Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 18 P. 255 – A Friend

Proverbs 18: King James Bible

A Friend – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eighteen, Verses 23-24

23 The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly. 24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – A Friend

We all have the privilege of having a friend that sticks closer than a brother. But only a portion of us recognize him.

He doesn’t have to be but is by his own choice, as he doesn’t need any friends. But he is such a close friend, that he has promised to never leave or forsake us, even until the end of the world.

Some people know someone or are that someone who would die for their families. I’d bet there are fewer that would die in the stead of a friend. We have armies full of good people, who are willing to die for their countrymen or for the sake of the country.

But this friend didn’t die just for the sake of his family. He didn’t die just for the sake of his friends. He didn’t die just for the sake of his countrymen, nor just for his country.

He died for all of the above, and yet more.

He died for all who disagreed with him.

He died for all of those who ridiculed him and mocked him.

He died for all who wanted to put him to death and stone him.

He died for the one who betrayed him for the sake of a small amount of money.

He died for everyone who cheered at the sentence of his death.

He died for every soul who laid their hands on him.

He died for the one who placed a crown of thorns upon his head.

He died for those who beat him so badly, that he was unrecognizable.

He died for the ones who ripped and tore into his flesh with cat and nine tails.

He died for those who stripped him down, exposing his nakedness.

He died for the one who drove thick nails into his hands and feet.

He died for everyone in the crowd that cursed him, and tempted him in his suffering.

He died for all who hunted down and slaughtered his friends.

He died for everyone throughout time, who has remained staunch against him in every way.

He died for the sake of all with no exceptions, and he never had to, but chose to out of obedience to his Father, and for his great love for all.

He is that friend that will stick closer than a brother, and for that, I am personally forever grateful to know him. Do you know him? If you even have a hesitation giving that answer, why not just make sure, and introduce yourself to the friend that literally jumped in the way to die in your stead, so that you don’t have to pay for all of the sins that you may have committed throughout your entire life.

Please head to the Salvation page, and introduce yourself to the Lord!

28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

John 15: King James Bible

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Matthew 28: King James Bible

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Thank you for your Word, and for your only begotten Son, Christ Jesus the Lord! Thank you for your willingness to do such things, and make such a personal sacrifice on our behalf. We lift you up and give you all the praise and glory for all that you’ve done, and for all that you are. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Amen
