Daily Inspiration from This Verse – A Right Answer

Well I’ll just come out and say it… This is certainly a strange looking verse in today’s climate. What’s being used here, is an expression of gratitude and appreciation. A thankfulness that is caused simply by giving a right answer.

Nobody knows better why this verse makes sense, than anyone who has been damaged somehow by setting a course on faulty information, or a wrong answer. Have you ever had this happen to you?

You look for information in order to do something, someone has all kinds of great advice, and you just wind up making a mess because of that faulty advice. Or, You ask someone a question where it is important that they are truthful, they lie, and set you off acting or reacting to a lie. Anyone?

I’m confident that we either know people who are not trustworthy with what they say, or are people who are not trustworthy with what we say. Then there’s some folks that think they have the right answers, and just don’t. These are the people who need to learn the phrase “I don’t know,” when they don’t know something, rather than making something up.

But I’d also be willing to bet, that we all know someone who we trust to give us a right answer to different questions, or whatever the case is that requires them to be honest or not. Someone who will tell the truth regardless of whether or not you like the answer, and will also tell the truth if they have no idea what you’re talking about.

A right answer doesn’t have to be a correct and informed answer all the time. It could simply be a matter of being truthful. Personally, I find that trust is a much bigger deal than people make it out to be, when it comes to our own peace of mind.

When we depend on the words of someone we don’t trust, we’re never quite comfortable, or at ease. But when you know that you can take someone’s words to the bank, because they hold no bones about being truthful, and will give a right answer to anything, or no answer at all, that person will wind up on your “go to” list.

Concerning the Word of the Lord or the things that pertain to our Christian walk, we are to “go to” the Father first and foremost over everything. He is to be trusted above all others, and I wanted to say that to be perfectly clear.

But the verse above is speaking about people. When someone gives us a right answer, often it will help us to either do something, act or react, or set our course somewhere. That course could range over a broad spectrum of different things that go on day by day.

Putting other people aside, let’s talk about us in Christendom. We are supposed to be the people that have the right answers. Honesty is key, and we are called to be honest with the Father, with others, and especially with ourselves.

If any of us might be thinking hard about whether or not we know someone we can depend on for a right answer when one is needed, why not be obedient to the Father, and be that person for the sake of others? When the rubber meets the road, whether anyone likes the answer or not, everyone gives respect to those they know are truthful with their words, and give a right answer. The verse above is a great display of that.

1 Timothy 2: King James Bible

2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Thank you for your Word, and for your guidance and direction as we traverse through it. Help us all to pause before opening our mouths about anything, and help us to keep guard over our hearts. Help us to give a right answer to any question, and just direction to those who seek it from us, no matter the importance of the situation. Your Word says to be truthful, and to provide things honestly to all men. May your Spirit aid us in this, against all of the temptations to do otherwise. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Has someone ever saved you a boatload of trouble by providing you a right answer to something?
