9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – A Sure Step

Have you ever experienced walking on thin ice? It’s been my experience, when you’re walking on thin ice, and you know full well that it could give at any time, it gives you a kind of uneasy feeling. A feeling similar to driving by the police station when you don’t have your license, and you just realized that the vehicle you’re driving is unregistered and uninspected.

One thing that I tell just about anyone that lives a life, doing things that they shouldn’t at just about any level of severity. And that is, that there’s something to be said about having piece of mind. Look at the verse above. Isn’t it ironic that he who perverts ways shall be known? That’s typically the number one ulcer causing stress ball, to those who do things that they know they shouldn’t. Getting caught.

Many years ago, I happened to stumble upon an episode of “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” and he said something that has stuck with me ever since. He was talking about how the pressure of being on the run, caused those who he’d catch to actually thank him on occasion, because the fear and stress of that life bears much more weight than facing the consequences. Those who were thanking him were relieved, believe it or not!

As we read earlier in these devotionals, the fear of the wicked will find them. Whatever it is they fear (in this case would be getting caught doing something they shouldn’t do), it’s scripturally locked into place, that it will come upon them.

I believe that this is one of the several reasons, that it’s healthy to confess our sins to the Lord, ask for forgiveness, and do whatever you need to do in order to make things right. Not because the Father needs for us to inform him of what we’ve done (or maybe didn’t do, whatever the case may be), chances are, it’s by his Spirit, that the feeling of conviction was there in the first place.

Nobody is going to either surprise or shock the Lord, when we confess our sins unto him. If there is something pressing on your heart, and it’s something that you know the Lord wouldn’t approve, there’s a good chance that he’s letting you know there’s a stain that has to be cleansed, and some action on your end is required.

When all is said and done, and we bring our baggage to the Father, the weight lifted is measurable to say the least. The difference is incredible, because your conscience is clear. All of the mud that comes with harboring something that is hiding in the darkness, washes away, and you begin to feel a new sense of life that you may have forgotten about.

That’s a peace that comes with a clear conscience. A sure step, that won’t crack beneath your feet, and send you neck deep into frigid waters. But a step that’s sure, with a sure direction, leading to a sure destination, is a pleasure all to its own.

You are always in control, and you know all things. You’ve been witness to all of the things we’ve done. Please search us out Lord, and shine a light in areas of our lives that may be hiding in the darkness, eating away at our conscience, and lead us all to repentance should there be the need, for whatever the cases may be. Put us in a place, where our conscience is clear, and our step is sure. This we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
