All Spiritual Blessings- In Heavenly Places in Christ

All Spiritual Blessings- In Heavenly Places in Christ

Scripture tells us that all spiritual blessings are awaiting us in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. This has led me into a revelation that came, while I was writing a work for someone recently, being based along this theme.

I’d like to discuss that revelation here with you. Granted, this could be a revelation for myself only, and could be common knowledge to everyone else…

Either way, I know that there is no page dedicated to the topic of spiritual blessings in heavenly places, until now.  So here we go!

Rewards or Blessings?

Is there a Rewards and blessingsdifference between being rewarded by the Father upon our entrance into eternity and blessings? Yes there is.

There are a handful of verses that we’ll be having a look at concerning this topic.

Rewards

One topic that we have discussed before here at the site, is that of reward.

We are going to be rewarded by the Father, based upon what we’ve done or accomplished throughout our lives here on earth. Mind you, this has nothing to do with salvation, or earning our way to Heaven.

There’s one example that Jesus gives us concerning reward having to do with persecution for his sake:

Matthew 5: King James Bible

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

As I said, this is just one example out of many given to us through scripture.

There isn’t anything we can do to “add to” or “take away from” the completed works of Christ Jesus. Let’s just get that out of the way early.

Being rewarded in ChristWe are not rewarded with salvation, because we never earned it in the first place. It is by grace that we’re saved, not by works- and that grace has been extended out toward us through the finished works of Jesus.

Ephesians 2: King James Bible
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

A reward is given when something is accomplished. These we accumulate and receive in totality when they are weighed in the throneroom of the Lord.

Some of us will bring with us things that will stand the test of fire, and be added unto us afterwards. Then again, some of us will bring nothing along, having done nothing to earn any reward, yet will be saved all the same, as if pulled from the fire.

1 Corinthians 3: King James Bible
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

My personal beliefs on this, is that we are going to be quite surprised at what will be deemed worthy and unworthy of reward. There are certain things that are a given, but I doubt that we have an entire picture (or layout) of the multiple things that the Father will weigh one way or the other.

Blessings

God bless youBlessings are just the opposite of rewards- at least when it comes down to how they are distributed.

Blessings that 00w14e might experience here in the flesh, come by 2 different ways.

  1. An outcome from being obedient to the Father- the fruit of doing what he says to do.
  2. By the grace and mercy of the Lord God, extending his blessings unto us for our better and his purpose.

Again, I am talking to those who are already saved. Salvation itself goes above and beyond what we’d consider a blessing. In fact, it’s a blessing so great, that the word “blessing” doesn’t seem to do it justice. This is just my opinion.

That said, I don’t believe that the Lord only blesses those who are saved, but the sinner as well. This will be (again, in my view), the most painful revelation for the unsaved person that will be standing before the Father after death.

The realization of how instrumental the Father was throughout their lives, and they never cared enough to believe him, or believe on him whom he sent. The overwhelming goodness that the Lord shed unto them, along with a plethora of blessing, as they remained staunch against him. I shudder to think of it personally.

As the Bible tells us about those who will not receive the Lord- they already have their reward.

The Lord is not slack to bless everyone in one way, shape, or form, but they do differ from the sinner and the saint.

There is a certain level of finality to many of the blessings of the Lord, that we experience here while being in the flesh. Some of them are a one off, while others are given, then grow and manifest all kinds of blessings that we can enjoy.

But these blessings are being given to us while being in the flesh. They will come and go just as we will. This is why I’d like to introduce a level of distinction between what should be considered blessings and spiritual blessings.

Blessings vs Spiritual Blessings

Apples and OrangesMost blessings that we experience, are things that either help us out, fill a need, or touch our hearts. We can be blessed physically through gifts, abilities, etc., and we can be blessed emotionally.

These can be from the Father himself, one of his children, or even through those who have no faith in the Father. Yes, the Lord will use those who are against him toward the benefit of his children, and the furtherance of his will. Many times we just don’t realize it as it goes on.

As I said, most blessings we experience, not all. Other blessing come by way of the Father, the Son, or the Holy Ghost only, and cannot be duplicated through anyone else, or distributed to us through anyone else.

These are what I would include in the “spiritual blessings” category. Spiritual blessings given to us by the Father, begin on a spiritual level, and work their way out toward the natural.

We could count out all of the spiritual blessings that are recorded in the Bible, but that number wouldn’t by any means be all inclusive. In other words, we’re given a glimpse into different things, but not necessarily given the entire picture.

1 Corinthians 13: King James Bible

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Reception of the Holy Ghost could certainly be counted as a spiritual blessing. Consequently, so could all of the spiritual gifts made available through him be considered spiritual blessings.

These being just a couple of examples pulled from the top of my head, can provide insight into the division between spiritual blessings vs regular (or natural) blessings.

Waiting for us in Heaven

Now that we’ve talked about all that, here is where my personal revelation comes in.

Right now, as you sit and read this, there is an untold number of blessings that are awaiting your arrival. Not rewards, they’ll be there as well- but I’m talking about blessings.

In fact, all spiritual blessings are already stored up, just waiting for us. Ephesians 1:3 doesn’t beat around the bush, and as we’ve talked about in the past- all means all. If the Word of God says that “all spiritual blessings” have been stored up, he isn’t about to leave any out.

Ephesians 1: King James Bible

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Who can fathom the amount of blessings that the Father has planned for us to come, in the face of  an eternal future? I can’t even wrap my head around that.

Something that we should also pay attention to, is the fact that Ephesians 1:3 says that “he hath blessed us.” “Hath” is past tense. It’s already there and waiting!

1 Corinthians 2: King James Bible

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

He’s already taken the time and effort into preparing all of these spiritual blessings. Jesus only gave us a slight glimpse into some of the things that we have to look forward to, that will be awaiting our arrival:

John 14:2 King James Bible
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

My Personal Revelation

Personal RevelationWithout us having to lift a finger, do anything right or wrong, earn any reward, or doing anything save making a simple decision to be in Christ, we have an untold amount of spiritual blessings already waiting for us!

What hits me hardest, is that it’s already there. Our saved friends and relatives who have passed can observe it, and they know whose it is. Think about that for awhile. Eventually you’ll wind up with a smile on your face.

There is no possible way to describe the thoughtfulness and loving kindness that the Father harbors toward his children, that could do him any justice. He first loved us, he so loved us, and he still loves us.

Will we deserve any of the wonders that await us in the form of all spiritual blessings? Certainly not. Will we have been capable of earning any of the spiritual blessings that the Lord has blessed us with in heavenly places? No way.

But yet it is there, despite how undeserving we may be. The Father owes us nothing, but we owe him everything. All praise and glory be to the Father, his Son Christ Jesus the Lord, and to his own Holy Spirit, through whom we have access to the throne room of the Father!

  1. Thanks Brian…yes, we do have blessings and rewards coming to us. All of this is due to our Father’s graciousness towards us. Undeserved, yes…appreciated, yes. The very first thing a believer should think of, rising from sleep, is thanking the Lord that we have another day. All throughout the day, thanking Him as well, and the last thoughts as we rest on our pillow. When we concentrate on thanking Him, on His many blessings and rewards for us, a lot of problems become trivial. Thanks again, Brian…stay strong Brother.

    • Hi George,
Amen Brother! There are so many different things (great and small) that we should be thankful for, yet take for granted. If we were to be given a list of every intervention, gift, or blessing, that the Lord provides, we’d be in complete shock!
You stay strong as well over there! God bless you!

  2. Thank you for the inspiration and truth this morning. Appreciating prayers for my upcoming trip to China. If you have an address I would like to tithe into this ministry.

    • Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your comment, and for your charitable heart. The easiest way to do that would be through the paypal donation button toward the top of the page. But if you prefer to send it via mail, I’ll contact you with the address rather than post it here. (Note to self… Look into setting up a PO box!)
Will be praying for you concerning your trip to China for sure!
God bless you and thanks again!
      In Christ,
      Brian
