Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 8 P.81 – Before There Were

Proverbs 8: King James Bible

Before There Were – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eight, Verses 25-26

25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: 26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses

Here, we can see the Holy Ghost elaborate on previous statements concerning how long he’s been around. Before there were mountains, hills, fields, or dust, the Holy Spirit was with the Lord.

We’d do well to remind ourselves as often as it is necessary, that the Spirit of the Lord is the literal “Spirit” of the Lord. We all have a spirit, the Father has a Spirit. That is how we are made in the image of God. He is three, yet he is one… We are three, yet we are one:

The Father= Father, Son, Holy Spirit /

We are created= Body, Soul, Spirit

Concerning this, I like to say, that we are spirit beings, clothed in a soul and housed in a body. So when we read that we are made in the image of the Lord, I believe that it goes far deeper than walking upright; having ten fingers and ten toes.

The book of Genesis supports the Holy Spirits statement above:

Genesis 1: King James Bible

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The previous verses in this chapter of Proverbs, he tells us that he was around before there were any depths or fountains. In verse 26 above, he tells us that he was around before the highest part of the dust of the world.

Kind of makes one think… Why distinguish between the earth, fields, and dust? Adam was made out of the dust wasn’t he?

Aside from giving us insight into different details of the Holy Ghost’s history with the Father, the purpose is to reveal to us that he’s been around long before anything else, and there is no better source of wisdom, understanding, insight, revelation, knowledge, discretion, diligence, etc., than the one who is all these things (quite literally).

So, he’s telling us a bit about himself, and by doing so, is giving us his resume, making sense out of every verse that details wisdom and understanding to be sought out over riches, gold and silver, etc..

We are being beckoned, to take hold of the Spirit of the Living God through Christ Jesus, who’s wisdom and understanding is better and also older, than silver and gold. Before there were any such thing as riches, silver and gold, there was God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Prayer

Father,

Thank you for this insight into the deep things of your Holy Spirit. Truly, you are far better and far greater, than anything else that ever was and is, or ever will be. All praise and glory to you forevermore, in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus we pray.

Amen
