Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 8 P.83 – Stalking God

Proverbs 8: King James Bible

Stalking God – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eight, Verses

32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Stalking God

The Holy Spirit has taken great lengths to specify what his qualifications are. He’s shined a light on just a handful of his different experiences, to give us more than enough reason to listen to him, and to hang on the things that proceed from his mouth.

He is telling us to “hearken unto him.” Listen up and pay attention! He’s got something to say, and it could very well be course changing information, that you may regret not having in the future should you have missed him!

Do you want to be blessed? Keep his ways. Hear the instruction of the Lord and choose the wisdom of the Holy Spirit of God, over the foolishness of this world that deems itself wise. As scripture reads above, should you choose to adhere to the wisdom of this world, you are in fact, rejecting the wisdom of the Lord.

Seek and wait on the Lord. Looking at the text in verse 34, it almost looks like he’s telling us to wait, but get as near as we possibly can (without actually stepping over the bounds of trespassing). Blessed is the one who seeks him out, it’s not saying anything that should lead us to believe, that we should wait for him to come to us, and ask us what we need. No, we wait at his front door, like a persistent paparazzi. Hence the title of this devotional,”Stalking God.”

It is amazing to me, how anyone could refuse the wisdom of the Lord God Almighty, given to us by the Holy Ghost, through Christ Jesus the Lord. I never understand it, until I just take a very small detour, remembering how often I’ve become caught up with the world and it’s ways, and have found myself walking down a road that ‘kinda’ looks like the one I should be on, yet wasn’t.

But thanks be to the Lord, that as soon as we come to the realization that we’ve been pounding the wrong pavement, turn (or repent) to go back into the path chosen and blazed for us by the Lord, he’s right there waiting faithfully. The Father is indeed, faithful to forgive, and we should all be thankful for that.

Thank you for sending us your Holy Ghost, so that we can have that very special and direct, connection to you. Help us to better understand that connection, and to hearken unto you when you’ve got something to tell us, or show us. You’ll always know far better than we, as it relates to everything. But foolishly, we may tend to forget to include you, and think we know what we’re doing, even though we don’t even know what’s ahead. Forgive us Lord, and teach us through any means you will, to stay waiting with baited breath at your door, awaiting your presence, so that our direction from you is clear and concise. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Does the thought of stalking God seem a little strange to you?

  1. Good morning Brian,
To answer the question about stalking God, I had never thought of using that word, but it fits. I can imagine God saying, “She’s looking at me, there she is again, she’s everywhere I look. We could also say God is stalking us as His eyes go through & fro the earth. That is comforting to the believer. Our Lord is always watching out for us. Let us Bless our Lord.

    • Hi there Janet,
Amen. I consider the Lord’s willingness for us to behave in a manner that others would consider an irritant, as a display of the meekness of the Father toward his children. I’m reminded of the parable of the woman that kept pushing at the Judge till he couldn’t take it anymore, and did what he could to appease her before she drove him nuts.

      Luke 18:King James Bible

18 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

The Lord tells us to pray constantly. I believe that the Father is more willing to be bothered by us, than we are to bother being persistent in prayer. Thanks for your comment Janet, and may the Lord bless you in Jesus mighty name!
