Proverbs 3: King James Bible
Cause and Effect – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter three, Verses 33-35
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Cause and Effect
We have a clear distinction between two groups of people in these verses, giving us some insight into how the Father operates.
Tor the just, the lowly, and the wise, he distributes:
- Blessings to their habitation
- A glorious inheritance
On the other hand, to the wicked, the scorners, and the fools, he distributes:
- A curse that comes personally from the Lord
- Scorning that comes personally from him
There are no shades of gray in these verses, and the message is quite clear. If you are the Lord’s, and seek for your home to be blessed, grace toward you, and seek to inherit glory, the Lord is clear in these verses who will achieve these things.
It’s our decision to make, whether or not we’re willing to do what it takes to be just, lowly (meek or humble), and wise. And we don’t need to know how to do these things all at once either. He provides all the information we need, throughout all of his Word, to teach us how to fulfill these conditions, so that the Father will fulfill his.

Teach us, as the redeemed in Christ Jesus, to adhere to your ways, and your desires, that will grant us your favor as these verses promise, and keep us far from being found guilty of foolishness, scorn, or wickedness.
