Daily Inspiration from This Verse – Congregation of the Dead
We’ve learned a lot about different ways, roads, and paths, throughout these devotionals concentrating on the book of Proverbs. We’ve been shown the difference between our way, the world’s way, the way of the wicked, and the Lord’s way.
All of which is made available to us, but only one way is blazed before us by the Father himself. And is also given to us freely, with a beginning point of the Lord Jesus Christ himself. He is the way, the truth, and the life.
Even while knowing this is the case, this way that the Lord has set us upon, has many intersections. Jesus gives us directions, which is straight. But we all, every now and again, tend to be inclined to take a detour or two along the way.
Hopefully, should we partake in taking a turn into the world or down a road of selfish desires, we’ll come to our senses and repent; turning direction back to the way the Lord has made. That is a blessing from the Lord, that he is gracious enough to forgive us our sin, and accept our repentance, and pick right up where we parted from him.
But there is a danger to wittingly going off track, with plans to repent in a later season. What if you die in the process? Or, what if you get so caught up in the mire, you forget the Lord who purchased you? Straying from the way the Lord has established for us, is akin to playing Russian roulette.
If God be for us, who could be against us? But, if we join hands with those who are against us, and against the Lord, nothing good will come of it. We can not assume that the Lord will grant us favor while we are partaking in rebellion against him, should we?
When we stray from the way that the Lord has made, we stray from his guidance, his protection, his grace, and his mercy. All the more compounded when it is done purposefully, or willingly.
WHen we stray off of the path that leads to life, we wind up on the path that leads us to dwell among the congregation of the dead. Those who are spiritually dead dwell here, as do demonic forces who are also representatives of the dead.
Though the streets of the world appear to be laced with gold, it’s mortar is mingled with the blood of all who’ve been slain in the way. The wages of sin is death, and the congregation of the dead receive it.
The way to the Father, is the way blazed by the Father. He has given us a helper by way of the Holy Ghost, to lead us into all righteousness, and to give us the wisdom and understanding through the Word of the Lord, to know the road, and to keep on it.
And should we lose our way or stumble, he is there when we turn to him for help. But when we reject him wittingly, we may excel greatly in the world, but will find ourselves in the company of the congregation of the dead. And only after we get there, would we know how badly we’ve sinned, and how far we have fallen.

Hebrews 6: King James Bible
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

2 Peter 2: King James Bible
2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Thank you as always for your Word, your insight, and your lessons. Help us Father, to be obedient unto you, in all that we say and do. Renew us daily Father, and guide us by the hand through this dark world. Help us and cause for us to shine brightly, the light of Christ, our salvation. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
