Proverbs 8: King James Bible
Hate what is Evil – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eight, Verse 13
13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Hate what is Evil
There’s a reason that we’ve been equipped with “hate,” having been included in the package of emotions that the Lord saw fit to incorporate into our systems. That doesn’t mean that we appropriate it correctly, or toward the things that have been reserved for us to hate.
For some people, it’s difficult for them to swallow the Lord hating anything at all. This is especially true, when we consider that God is Love.
Though that is true, it’s well documented through the Word of God, that the Lord can and does indeed hate. The problem for us as the Body of Christ is, how often have you ever heard,”The things that the Lord hates?” You probably haven’t.
Pie in the sky teaching has removed this from the spectrum of the aspects of the Lord. Why does it matter? Because should we neglect understanding what the Lord hates, and why, we may be found taking part in the things that fall into that category.
What does the Lord hate?
- The evil way
- The froward mouth
The evil way, as far as I’m concerned, is interesting. Reason being, is because of all the time we’ve spent throughout these devotionals that discern between the way that the Lord has prepared for us, and the way that this world tries to sell us through lusts and temptations, which is the way of evil.
The Father doesn’t just want us to stay off of that way, but downright hates it. Why he hates it is easy to figure out.
- It’s against all that he’s established
- It’s all save one way that leads his children away from him
==> Note that these don’t include individuals, but are traits, choices, or iniquities. <===
It’s only common sense… If we want to continue doing the things that please the Lord, it certainly helps for us to understand what he hates and why. Were these things not important, they wouldn’t have been preserved for us in his Word.

For all of our lives, please keep us from taking part in the things that you hate. Cause for us to hate the same things you do, and bring us to the point where we put a smile on your face on a daily basis, and please you by your work in us, and your Word at work in all that we do. In the name of Christ Jesus the Lord we pray.
