Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 8 P.80 – From the Beginning

Proverbs 8: King James Bible

From the Beginning – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eight, Verses 22-24

22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – From the Beginning

Up to this point, we’ve got a narration of the benefits of listening to the wisdom of the Lord, by way of wisdom and understanding being a direct connection to the Holy Ghost. With these verses, and those that will follow, we’ll see for the first time, the Holy Ghost giving us his autobiography.

These are among my most favorite verses in the book of Proverbs, because we’re given an insight that isn’t as black and white about the Spirit of the Living God. I’ve often heard others confuse this as being Christ Jesus.

It may sound like it should be, until you look closely to the texts, then what unfolds is an amazing revelation into the personal history of the narrator. In the verses above, he’s telling us about how he was around long before there was anything.

He was right there with the Father, at the beginning of his way. Isn’t that interesting, due to the fact that we’ve covered different “ways” throughout these devotionals? Bear in mind, it doesn’t say since the beginning of the Lord, or anything like that, because the Father has no beginning or end. He simply is.

This chapter, is most likely the best place to get your eyes on a direct message from the Holy Ghost. His role was a little different before the coming of Christ Jesus. From Christ onward, he says whatsoever he heard from the Jesus or the Father, instead of mentioning himself (see the scriptures below).

But he speaks to his beginnings, and his relationship to the Father here, which makes this chapter a very insightful, and special section of our Bibles.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Thank you for your willingness to reveal your Holy Spirit to us through your Word. Kindle a fire within us Lord, to seek out more revelation, and guide us through your Spirit, to retrieve the treasures that you’ve hidden, waiting for us to receive. In the name of Christ Jesus the Lord we pray.

Why do people think that they’d be smarter than the one who’s been around from the beginning?
