Daily Inspiration from Proverbs P.10 – Knowledge of God

Proverbs 2: King James Bible

Knowledge of God – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter two, Verses 1-5

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses

In these wonderful verses, the Lord gives us a method to understanding and finding the knowledge of God Almighty himself! First he gives us the conditions by the three “if’s.”

If thou:

  • receive his Word and keep his commandments, by inclining our ear and applying what we learn
  • cry after knowledge, and also for understanding
  • seek and search as if we’re looking for something more precious than anything

There are the three “if’s” that give us a target for what’s coming up next. And that would entail the results of doing these things, which carries us into “then.”

Then shalt thou:

  • understand the fear of the Lord
  • find knowledge of God

For a recap on the fear of the Lord, check out a previous devotional speaking to what it is to fear the Lord. A personal understanding of the fear of the Lord is a blessed thing for us to lay hold of, and it fitting to see it here as a reward.

To actually “find the knowledge of God” means (to me anyways) that he’s made it available for all of us who seek it out. He left it somewhere, and has given us instructions as to how to find it.

You hear the Bible often referred to as an instruction manual for life. Well, in this case, the Father has literally given us instructions to where he placed his knowledge. For us who believe on Christ Jesus the Lord, and are filled by his Spirit, we’ll be lead into the knowledge of God Almighty should we allow the Holy Ghost to get us there.

The Holy Ghost teaches us how to achieve those “if’s,” but it’s our responsibility to follow through.

You’ve gone through great lengths to give us access to your knowledge and your wisdom. Please Lord, guide us through your Holy Spirit into all truth, and purpose in our hearts to seek out your wisdom, council, understanding and knowledge, that you’ve put apart for us who love you and seek to do what you will. Let your will be done according to your good pleasure, in the name of Jesus, whose name is above all names, we pray.

Have you been using the roadmap that the Father has given us in order to find the fear of the Lord, and the Knowledge of God?

  1. Thanks Brian…yes, it is good for us to seek and follow His ways. It is a lot safer that way, to walk in His ways. Yes, casting aside every high minded way that exalteth itself…sounds like modern day society i.e. high minded, not listening to the Lord’s way. Life is a lot better, to follow His ways, then to listen to this utter nonsense that is flooding the air waves these days. Hope every thing is going well for you Brother…stay strong.

    • Hi there George,
Amen! Nobody knows how to live life like the Author of life. Notwithstanding, there are millions of gurus out there, with the world pumping out more by the day, that have “better” ways than what we can find plainly spelled out for us in the Bible. Better for the flesh perhaps, but the shelf life of the world’s ways are only the span of a lifetime, and will end in destruction when crossing paths with the Word of God.

Life is good when lived as designed by the Father. Praise the Lord for that! I hope all is well with you as well, and may the Lord bless you abundantly in all that you set your hand to do in Jesus name!
