Daily Inspiration from Proverbs P.8 – Fear and Desolation

Proverbs 1: King James Bible

Fear and Desolation – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter one, Verses

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses

If the Lord’s been warning us of incoming troubles, and we refuse to listen, there will come a time where he will stop warning, and start watching. Once that page is turned…

  • He’ll laugh when we’re hit with calamities
  • Mock when our fears happen to us
  • He’ll no longer answer when we’ve called upon him from the despair of what he warned about
  • He won’t be available to those who have ignored all of his warnings.

He’s not speaking to the ignorant, but the willingly disobedient. Those who reject and despise the reproof of the Father.

If someone winds up in a mess, the Father is always willing to intervene and help us out in some way shape or form. Often, we don’t even realize it, because it’s not clear at times how extremely worse things could have become without his help.

We only see what’s around us, not what’s been shoved out of the way by the Father. I believe that we will be in awe, at the lengths he’s gone through, involving himself on our behalf, in every circumstance that we’re faced with.

But for those who refuse his warnings, and knowingly move against his wisdom, will experience a whole different side to the Father that they, should they have known and believed, would have done anything to repent while they had the chance. Fear and desolation will come, not by the Father, but by their own hand.

Our inspiration in this, is that whether we know it or not, God Almighty isn’t just doing what it takes to keep us protected from receiving a full force assault of things that we want nothing to do with, but he’s also there being a watchman in his own right, on our behalf.

Matthew 11: King James Version Bible

16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Forgive us for being unwilling to take heed to you and your Word. Please never allow us to get so far removed from you that we conscientiously and willingly reject your reproof. Instead rather draw us closer to you and better in tune with your voice, in Jesus name.

Question concerning Fear and Desolation

This isn’t so much a question to answer in the comments section, but maybe one that we should reserve for when we’re going through something, wondering where God is.

How much fear and desolation do you think you’d have gone through, were the Father to step aside and allow it to happen? What if the worst case scenarios could be much much worse?

  1. I was faced with 10 years in prison and would of more and likely went did the 10 years, if it wasn’t for God’s divine intervention. Instead they gave me 10 yrs. probation, I am nothing without Him, He is my everything!!! I am glad I chose turn to Him and surrender myself to Him fully and on a daily basis. HE has given me deliverance from alcohol and drugs for almost 4 yrs. I deserve nothing and He has given me everything!!! All glory belongs to God!!! Praise His Holy Name!!!! HALLELUJAH !!!!

    • Hi there Shaune,
What an outstanding testimony! Praise God for his provision and for looking out for his own! He is in the business of judging the heart. When it’s truly for him, he will turn something around such as a 10 year prison sentence. Just as he did with you. King David wrote.”Never have I seen the righteous forsaken, not his seed begging bread.” You’re living proof and all praise and glory for that!

Thank you for taking the time to comment, and may the Father bless you greatly in the name of the Lord Jesus!
