We can often find the Devil in the details as we flip through the pages of the Bible. He’s not always personally referenced through all of the situations given for us to explore, but he’s there. However, there are places where Satan  is made reference to, so that we have an “authorized” expose as to who he is and what power he does & does not have.

Why should we care as Christians? Because knowledge is key to any battle. And the war that we wage while we’re on this earth, depends on our ability to grab knowledge as the Father wills for us to have it. Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding, that is found within the Word of God, is vital to give us a good spiritual head on our shoulders to keep us from being deceived.

Know your Enemy

1 Peter 5:

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Although unseen by the natural eye, this adversary is still very real & not imaginary, nor a story told to children to keep them in line, nor a mythological character out of history. Not to glorify this enemy at all, but to make us all more aware of his procedures & goals, this article is for every born again believer in JESUS CHRIST & every unsaved human being out there in this world right now.

Satan who is also known as the Devil, is very much alive & just as much evil to the core. Satan is a created angel. Created by YHWH GOD & he was created to be the most beautiful & intelligent angel ever created & created in the highest order of all the heavenly angels. Ezekiel 28:12-14

Biblically his name was Lucifer when he was in the heavens as part of GOD’S angelic host. Isaiah 14:12 The Bible defines him as an angelic being who fell from his position in heaven due to prideful sin & is now completely opposed to GOD 100%. So opposed to GOD he is doing all in his power to thwart GOD’S purposes everywhere & anytime he can.

As Satan now after his fall from heaven, he is arrogantly set against everything that GOD has ever
established & is still out with one main goal: to steal, to kill, & to destroy. John 10:10 Because he desired to sit on a throne above YHWH GOD, it is written that Lucifer’s pride led to his demise. Isaiah 14:13-14; Ezekiel 28:15; 1 Timothy 3:6

His self-centered will was to be greater than YHWH GOD. Notice the many “I will” statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Because of this arrogant, prideful sin, YHWH GOD permanently removed Lucifer from his exalted position & from his role in heaven with Him. Hence, he is cast down to earth & whether he even likes it or not IS still serving in YHWH GOD’s perfect will & plans.

Being cast out, commanded out of heaven, Lucifer becomes the Satan who rules as the prince of the power of the air to this day. He actually occupies up to the third heaven. John 12:31 & 2 Corinthians 4:4 & Ephesians 2:2

Being cast out of heaven Satan is now the world’s imminent ruler & seeks to spread his dark conspiracies aimed at creating havoc & overthrowing the Kingdom of GOD whenever & wherever he can. Which we as believers know … only sealed his judgement & sentenced him to eternal burning lake of fire … that is to come to him … at GOD’S appointed time. Revelation 20:10

We now know Satan also as an ‘accuser’ Revelation 12:10 — a ‘tempter’ Matthew 4:3 — a ‘deceiver’ Genesis 3 & 2 Corinthians 4:4 & Revelation 20:3 As Satan, we know his name means ‘adversary’ & ‘one who opposes’ & ‘slanderer’ against ALL that is good, holy, pure, & of GOD’s Kingdom. Including us who believe.

Even though he was cast out of heaven, Satan still seeks to elevate his throne above GOD. He counterfeits & mimics all that GOD does, hoping to gain the worship of the world & encourage opposition to GOD’S Kingdom. Satan himself is the ultimate source behind every false cult & world religion. Any form of perversion, deception & darkness whether it be spiritual, soulful or in the natural world … is his work & he will do anything in his power to oppose GOD in any realm & those who follow GOD.

*We as believers must know that … “12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:128

An Unarmed Enemy

DO YOU KNOW: SATAN HAS NO RIGHTFUL AUTHORITY OVER BELIEVERS

Satan is the liar of all liar’s & the deceiver of all deceiver’s & can only use & abuse in weapons of deception to take advantage over those who are ignorant of his limitations. Sin is Satan’s primary force of evil abuse & authority over believers & unbelievers.

When Jesus gave his life on the cross as the sacrifice for the sins of the world, He also redeemed us from Satan’s power & dominion over us.

“Having disarmed principalities & powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it”. Col. 2:15

“…For this purpose the SON OF GOD was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

Satan’s legal authority was neutralized by the finished work of CHRIST JESUS on the cross. Every believer has authority over Satan. It’s our responsibility to use the authority that CHRIST has given us to put Satan in his place. And, yes it is a life long work.

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents & scorpions, & over all the power of the enemy, & nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19

We have the situational right to use the authority of the name of JESUS CHRIST to repel & drive Satan out of our territory & to break his grip over our self & our households. 2 Corinthians 10:4 We are to recognize Satan’s activity & his covert plans & take our authority over him in the name of JESUS CHRIST, just like the early apostles & believers did. Mark 16:17 But, it take the power of the HOLY SPIRIT & discernment to be an effectual advocate against his dirty works.

The Devil hates the name of JESUS CHRIST & detests an atmosphere of praise & worship & love which exalts the name of CHRIST & His Kingdom. We can rest assured that the presence of JESUS CHRIST will destroy the presence of Satan.

It is imperative to remembers as believers that the name of JESUS CHRIST will drive Satan away. But it would be futile to order Satan’s departure if we leave the door wide open for him to flourish.

The Bible tells us to not ‘give place’ for the Devil in Eph. 4:27. We are to provide no place in our lives spiritually, soulfully, or naturally where Satan & his powers of darkness can be establish strongholds.

Does this happen overnight? Yes, sometimes! And, no sometimes!

The enemy can always be found working in those who entertain sin, disobedience, unforgiveness, & rebellion or a self-willed nature. 2 Corinthians 2:11 Whatever is not submitted to GOD is thus open to the wiles of the enemy.

“Submit to GOD. Resist the devil & he will flee from you.” James 4:7

This was what JESUS CHRIST was referring to when He said, “… the ruler of this world is coming, & he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30 Our beloved CHRIST had submitted entirely to God, & although the Devil would try Him, there was nothing for the Devil to use to gain an advantage. CHRIST submitted & humbled Himself to the Cross … He was not driven there by Satan.

I think it imperative to come to that place in our faith where we are so engrossed in CHRIST … that every evil has to bow its knee & leave at the name of JESUS CHRIST.

“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

Name above all Names

In prayer one day it was literally revealed to me that every time I said the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST every devil that was prowling around me & my household, literally stopped & bowed to its knees, then fled! Any work of Satan & any demon is subject to CHRIST already.

They are defeated because of the BLOOD OF THE LAMB, sealing every believer. The work of the CROSS has already defeated Satan, including his cause & all his little schemed plans.

Will we as believers live a life free from this earthly plain without trials, temptations, & or sin? Simply put, no. BUT, the GOOD NEWS is we have been supplied the equipment & the means to prevail over such works in FAITH BELIEVING.

Using the WORD OF GOD & the power of the HOLY SPIRIT; in discernment & knowledge & in continuous contriteness; knowing we are saved not of ourselves but through JESUS CHRIST alone. And, hence, we stand complete in HIM ALONE. Taking on the Armor of our LORD & persevering in the faith that has been given us, knowing that we stand because of CHRIST & HIS COMPLETED WORK in our behalf.

So be a believer who believes enough to FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH & Having done ALL TO STAND:

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, & having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, & the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:14-17

This is a great article from C.L. Mareydt and so important for us to get a firm grasp on. Reason being, this world (not the earth but the worldly systems) was built and ruled by Satan himself. The world is his, and that’s the way it’s been since the fall of man. What this world will tell us about Satan/Lucifer, and what the Bible will tell us about him, are two very different things. It is on us as Ambassadors of Christ to know and discern between the two, but so many don’t.

In “Kingdom of Darkness in a Fallen World,” we go over the many reasons why it is vital to understand these things in order to not be found unwittingly inviting spiritual enemies into our lives. In the newest book, “Not of this World: Out of the Mire,” we discuss the camouflaged methods the world itself uses to curb the way we think, and respond against what the Lord would have us do.

The world is deceptive… Satan is deceptive… Mankind itself is deceptive… Attacks come from everywhere, and it’s those that we don’t see coming are those that will affect us the most. It’s best to know the truth of what’s behind the curtain, and having done all to stand, stand.
