Daily Inspiration from This Verse – Established by Counsel
As Bible believing, born again Christians, is there anything that we’re not warring against in some way shape or form, at any given moment? Think about this for a few minutes, and if you take everything into account, you may be surprised.
We are at war against the spiritual enemies of the Lord first and foremost. Also, we are at war within our own flesh, as the spirit is at war with the worldly flesh more often than not. Then, we’re at war against falsehoods that the enemy mingles into the body like a poison.
Then the most unnecessary and unfortunate part, we are at war oftentimes against each other over stupid doctrinal differences, that have nothing at all to do concerning our own salvation in Christ. But as far as this goes, I believe that we have entered a time where the fractured body of Christ will become separate from those who are truly not part of the body, but are people who claim to have Christ, yet don’t.
Only the Lord knows the heart of a person, and it is he (so I believe) that will be doing the separating of the wheat from the chaff. Actually, I believe that if it were up to him, he would be doing that with us individually inside the boundaries of our own lives.
What I mean is, while we are here on earth, in a world that is hostile enemy territory, we need to be paying attention to the Lord for our own marching orders. There’s a couple of good reasons aside from wanting to fulfill his will (which is priority).
One reason is to lead us to fight the battles that he’s prepped and equipped us to fight. The other is to help us avoid getting into things that we either have no business getting involved with, or are not necessary. The Lord never needs to lead us into foolishness, we take care of that all by ourselves by taking action by our own volition, rather than taking the time to wait on the Father.
What’s right in our own eyes can often be faulty, which has been documented throughout the scriptures, as the forerunner to an extreme fall. Whenever you see that people did what was right in their own eyes, you’ll soon see that they’ve taken a detour from the Father, and decided to go their own way.
The council of the Lord is available to all of us. We need only seek it prayerfully through his Word, and staying in constant communication with the Father.
Without his council, a purpose will not be established and set as a done deal, that just needs to be followed through. And without that purpose being established, how can we effectively make war with those who are attacking us (spiritually speaking)?

Matthew 6: King James Bible
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Romans 7: King James Bible
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
2 Corinthians 10: King James Bible
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
James 4:4 King James Bible
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
For some of us, it is easy to hear you speaking to us, directing us, and to see how you are tending to us, as we walk our walk in your service. But not all of us can, or have a difficult time discerning you over everything else that this world is throwing at us, dulling our senses, and flooding our minds. Help those of us who need your counsel to hear your voice, and to receive your counsel in whatever manner you know is effective. This we ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do you head to battle without your purposes established by counsel with the Lord?
