Even Your Enemies – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter sixteen, Verse 7
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses
This is quite a statement that is being made here in my opinion. Also, another great reason to get into the Word of God, and understand what is and isn’t, pleasing to the Lord.
Once you do that, and choose to do the things that please him, all kinds of promises will begin to take effect. The verse above is among them.
One thing that strikes me as something to be clear about, is the wording that the Holy Ghost is using here. “When a man’s ways please the Lord.”
We can know all that the Lord wants us to know. We can think exactly what the Lord would want us to think. We can feel with all of the unctions given us by the Holy Ghost. But if our ways are not pleasing to the Father, what good is the rest?
The whole point behind many of the promises of the Father, is for us to change our ways. From operating from a fleshly perspective, to moving through the world in righteousness, and at peace with the Father.
Doing what pleases him, and making sure our ways correspond with the contents of our renewed heart. Being lead by the Spirit, not by the whims (or ways) of this world. Following his instruction and acting on it, rather than giving the appearance of not having a Born Again spirit given to us.
Should we continue in this, and do what is pleasing to the Lord, he will even make our enemies be at peace with us! Notice here, that it doesn’t say that he will make our enemies no longer be our enemies.
They’ll still be your enemies, but the Lord will MAKE them be at peace with you. How he does this can take many different avenues, but the point is, even they won’t be lifting a hand against you.
Not because they don’t want to, but the Lord is forcing a situation of peace between you and them. It isn’t because you did anything to get off of their radar of hate, but because the Father did.
It says “even his enemies,” it doesn’t say “just his enemies.” So, I would take this as something that should introduce some encouragement to those of you who are having trouble with family members, friend who have fallen out, and that sort of thing.
There are dozens of scenarios, where someone isn’t your enemy per se , but has something against you for their own reasons. I believe that the Lord is saying that everyone from those who are at peace with you already, all the way up to your most well known enemy, and everyone in between.
So perhaps it may just be, that should our ways please the Lord, many relationships that have been damaged, will be repaired. I could be thinking to deeply into this, but then again, maybe not. Take it to prayer and see what the Lord puts on your heart.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
1 Thessalonians 4: King James Bible
1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Thank you for the revelation that you are prepared to dish out to those who ask of you, and for your Word, and your precious Son, the Lord Jesus. Teach us what it takes for us to please you Lord. Examine every one of us, and should there be anything found wanting in this department, open our eyes, give us direction, and your instruction, and the understanding to carry it out. All so that you will be more pleased, and so we may be all the better servants for it. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
