Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 25 P. 380 – Faithful Messenger

Proverbs 25: King James Bible

Faithful Messenger – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter twenty five, Verse 13

13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

Daily Inspiration from This Verse – Faithful Messenger

After reading the verse above it appears there is something that isn’t said, but I believe goes without saying. He who refreshes the soul of his masters will often be blessed for it, or at the very least will be seen upon favorably.

A faithful messenger is what is used to describe an employee that can be relied on, or a friend who faithfully does something on our behalf. The key here is the word faithful.

Are we faithful members of our families, or employees? Do we do things asked of us faithfully with diligence, honesty, and longsuffering? Or do we wind up completing tasks asked of us half heartedly, doing best the things we feel like doing, and petering out over the things we don’t feel like doing?

I can relate on both sides of the issue above. Having been a Foreman, there were people who stood out from others and could fall into place as a faithful messenger, who I knew full well I could trust to complete a task without wavering. Not because they had any special thought toward me, but they (whether they knew it or not) performed with a diligence that spanned their time on the clock.

What they were doing didn’t make any difference; they were just as reliable whether they were doing something they enjoyed, or something that was miserable. So long as they were there, diligence was on display, regardless the task.

My soul (back to the reference above) would be refreshed, I would be relieved when they’d assess the task and know they were capable to complete it.

I use a work related theme as an example, but it isn’t limited to that as I noted above. This can be applied to friends and family as well, or maybe even in the Church. A faithful messenger can set our minds and hearts at ease over a variety of circumstances.

I believe that for us as the Body of Christ, the verse above isn’t simply to look for ways to relate to the master specified in the scripture. Instead, we should do our utmost to associate ourselves as the faithful messenger.

When we work, do it as unto the Lord. Concerning our families, be the most honest and trustworthy member therein. With friends, be a positive force in their lives, bring with you the Word of God written on your heart, and always ready to explain yourself to them, as to why you may be a bit different than they are (when they’re unsaved). Or have the steadiness of mind to refresh a soul with scripture.

Whatever the case may be, we as Christians have a message for the people of the world, whether they wish to receive it is between them and the Lord. Despite all of the hardships that may come due to having this message to share, our focus should answer one simple question…

Would the Lord consider us as a faithful messenger?

Thank you for giving us a slice of insight, as to how you feel about your children, as we set out to be faithful messengers unto you. May we ever please you with what we do, and avoid doing the things that displease you. Help us to be diligent in all things where needed, and open our eyes to areas of our lives where more diligence and faithfulness is required, should we be lacking. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Would you be seen by your friends, family, or coworkers, as a faithful messenger?
