Daily Inspiration from Proverbs P.4 – Hear the Instruction

Proverbs 1: King James Bible

Heart the Instruction – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter one, Verses 8-9

8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses

A bit of a throwback to verse 5:  “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning.”

We need to be receptive and sensitive to the Holy Ghost to Hear the Instruction given to us by the Father. Sometimes (I assume this happens to all of us once and awhile) we do hear but don’t perceive that it’s the Father at all.

We all know that we should be listening to our parents. They’ve seen more, probably done more, and more often than not, bear the scars from this daily thing that we call living. But what about those of us who’s got parents that either care nothing for the Lord, or really don’t care about their kids? Not all parents are available; not all lay down the law.

No matter our upbringing, whether or not we’ve ever known our parents, or whether or not they’re fools (from a Biblical standpoint)… We’ve got an example that is just, even if our parents aren’t. That example is Christ Jesus.

Sure, he had an earthly father in Joseph, but after Jesus hits a certain age, we hear nothing at all about his earthly father anymore. Instead, a constant relationship between he and his Heavenly Father.

We share the same Father that Jesus was so intimate with throughout the Gospels. He is constant and doesn’t waver as we, or our earthly parents may. He’s willing to be just as close to us, as he was with his only begotten Son, Christ Jesus.

If that’s not cause for excitement, I’m not sure what is!

2 Timothy 3: King James Bible

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Matthew 12: King James Bible

47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Help us to hear your voice, your instruction and correction, and lead us into a place where we don’t forsake the law that you’ve written on the tablets of our hearts. Also, bring us to the same place that you enjoyed with Christ Jesus while he traversed throughout this earth. Make yourself known to us as you made yourself known to him we pray. In Jesus mighty name.

Confession – Choosing not to Hear the Instruction

Have you ever ignored the instruction of your father? Or maybe had forsaken the law laid down by your mother? If so, how far removed was it from the best possible outcome?

I feel as though I spent all of my youth doing both. If I want to feel young again, I just call my parents and argue with them (okay, no I don’t, it was a joke).

  1. Yes, we should be knowing how we ought to keep our temples/bodies.
And then to have Our Father also pleased to dwell in them.

I think that ‘Normal’ Christianity should have Us in that secret place on High as in Psalm 91; under the shadow of the Almighty! so that we maintain peace, even in the Eye of the Tornado, for to dwell on the outskirts will only be turbulent; many don’t get there.

into the Holy of the Holies where we bow before our Abba, Father and we hear His voice… but too, when it is necessary then it is The Lord speaking and at times, one can be quiet, in prayers and have either the Lord Jesus or The Holy Spirit praying to the Father for You… and then it is profitable, or the Holy Spirit takes our mumblings Up perfect anyway, but it is sweeter to hear them pray for you.

for me, it is my God given conscience that speaks to me and can be one of those three, but mostly the Father, if you stay abiding in Him. That takes having very short accounts with Our God. Running to say sorry or to forgive ones or you to them, so your prayers aren’t hindered.

1 Corinthians 1 : 20-31 and even to continue is the “Wise” portion, but I know you concur with Brian, that we both are Great candidates as we are “Base” men/boys that aid in proving God is flowing His Wisdom and His Glory, Grace and Love through Us, because we know and those that know Us; are just not that smart!

Hallelujah that we have a Father of the fatherless… for what father could ever be Him.

We Praise, We Worship, We Adore and Give Thee All the Glory garnered and Love, back to Thee Father and too; Ask then for More to flow and blow the chaff of our members; in and through The Lord Jesus Christ; whom is soon going to be sent by Thee! Hallelujah! Yes, we Fear Thee with a healthy fear. as we rest our heads upon thy chest… much love we see… Amen

    • Hi there Bruce,
Great to see you chiming in here Brother…
What you said about the Holy of Holies reminds me of a Petra song on one of their praise albums. It’s called “Take me In.”
      “Take Me In”

Take me past the outer courts
      Into the Holy Place
      Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
And the Priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
But it’s only found in one place

Take me into the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the holy of holies
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am

To all else that you said, I agree and amen!
Thank you Brother for your comment, and may the Lord usher in an outstanding New Year for you in the Father!!
      In Christ,
