Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Highway of the Upright
The Highway of the upright is a road that the Father has touched on in one way or another, from chapter to chapter throughout Proverbs. It has been spoken of as the way, a path, and a walk.
No matter how you slice it, it’s the road that has been created and taken care of by the Lord. It is a road that he has prepared for each and every one of us, and he guides our steps as we traverse through anything that attempts to cause us to stray.
The roads of evil are all much more attractive, or perhaps carnally pleasing. They all seem to be shortcuts to whatever end we believe is on the other end of it. Their ways are broad and well traveled. But all the same, the roads of evil all end in a sure place, and it’s not a place where the Lord has prepared for those who love him.
In this verse, the Lord puts the responsibility on our shoulders, to make sure we stay on the highway of the upright. He guides our steps, but he doesn’t take them for us.
It’s our free will that needs to correspond with the will of the Father, certainly not the other way around. To preserve our own soul, we need to keep our way. But how do we do that?
We read the Word of the Lord, know what it says, get to know the Father, understand his likes and dislikes, know his will for us, know his plan, and remain in as much communication with him as possible. Know what’s right and wrong by the Word of God, and do what’s right as much as humanly possible, and pray that the Lord fill the gap where it becomes impossible.
Fortunately for us, the highway of the righteous is a much easier road to travel since Christ Jesus. But without Christ, you’re not even on the right highway in the first place.
So should there be any question at all concerning whom you serve, then you’re on a road that will lead you away from the truth, and straight into destruction. Broad is the way that leads to hell.
But praise be to the Lord, that he sent Christ Jesus to pluck us off of roads that lead to oblivion, and places us with a firm footing, upon the road that he’s created specially for us. Do you have any question, as to whether or not you’re saved from having to stay on a road to destruction?

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Thank you for your Word, and all of the care that you’ve displayed in our lives. Thank you for your Holy Spirit, that opens our eyes to all things, and aids us whether we realize it or not. Give us wisdom and understanding Lord, so that we stay mindful to keep our way which is yours, as we walk daily through this world. In the name of the Lord Jess Christ we pray.
Do you know without a shadow of a doubt, whether or not you’re on the highway of the upright?
