Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 11 P.111 – Hope in the Lord

Proverbs 11: King James Bible

Hope in the Lord – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eleven, Verses 7-8

7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. 8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Hope in the Lord

Above, the scripture says the the hope of unjust men perishes. When do you think that takes place? I’d say that it can happen after death, and also throughout life.

In Life:

Throughout life, because all good things come from the Father. Good things doesn’t mean fancy cars, expensive houses, and all the toys that keep us occupied and pleased for a limited amount of time. Sure these things can enhance one’s life, but are these the things that make life good?

The most wealthy folks upon the face of this earth are probably among the most miserable people that are out there. That’s a fairly well known thing. You can have it all, but if you feel miserable, think miserably, and act miserably, stuff tends to just turn into stuff. There’s just no life in stuff.

So, never perceive someone well off to be living the “good life,” because outward appearances are most often harbor something a bit different on the inside. As I said above, all good things come from the Father, not from this world.

In Death:

As far as the wicked and unjust are concerned, their hope must consist of one thing, and one thing only. That there is no God Almighty to answer to after death. That they are either in some whimsical energy form, zipping across the universe, or that there’s nothing at all.

Or maybe their hope is that they’ve been a good enough person to have earned their way into Heaven, or at the very least, to stay out of hell. That’s what movies like to preach to us, isn’t it?

Bottom line is, this is the most tragic circumstance for anyone to find themselves in. The last words of the Satanist Leader Anton Levey, were reported by a witness  as he lay on his death bed to be, “Oh my, oh my. What have I done? There’s something very wrong! There’s something very wrong!”

Death and taxes have nothing on judgement, as it relates to a certain up and coming event for us all. And for far too many, their hope of Shangri La, or winding up in some strange collective consciousness, or partying with the Devil in hell, as if it’s some sort of party, or simple nothingness, or whatever it might be, comes to a crashing close, as they enter into full on comprehension of their up and coming eternity. At that moment, they are in fact, hopeless.

Our hope as Christians, doesn’t rest with the stuff that rises, is built, then goes back to the dust of this world. Not in man, women, bird or beast.

Our hope rests in the Lord, and it’s a blessed hope that we have in him. We have evidence of that hope by way of faith. After all, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, right?

Our hope goes beyond all things that come our way, because we know that we know, our God is bigger than all circumstances or trials. Our trust is in the Lord. Out hope is the Lord. Our future is with the Lord. Glory to the Lord!

Prayer

Father,

Thank you for the hope that you are to us, and the precious promises that you’ve given to us through your Word, and because of Christ Jesus. Thank you for being ever faithful, and giving us the sight, to see through all of life’s mountains, and being greater than all things, our cause for celebration when we enter into your presence. Thank you Lord, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Amen

Question

If you’re a believer, do you recall what it was like having no hope in the Lord?

  1. Thanks Brian…listening to an interview a few weeks ago, the guest was talking about the deaths in Malibu, CA. The moderator was shocked i.e. alcohol/narcotics/suicide/murder?? In Malibu?? Lots of $, and no peace, no hope. Non believers are making a huge gamble on what they are trusting. For the true believer, it is solid, reassuring, and of great comfort/joy. And yes, I do reflect on what it was like before I had the blessed hope. Thank you Father for adopting me, thank you Jesus for calling me, thank you Holy Spirit for convicting/guiding me. May the Lord be with you Brian…Amen.

    • Hi there George,
      Amen Brother, Thank you Father!
And it is so true, that some people learn the hard way, that nothing in this world will ever fully satisfy. There’s always something. In my opinion, it’s part of the curse from the beginning, that this whole world groans in travail, awaiting the day that it’s put out of its misery.
Thank you for your comment, and may the Lord bless you mightily in Jesus name!
      Brian
