Daily Inspiration from Proverbs 9 P.85 – House of Wisdom

Proverbs 9: King James Bible

House of Wisdom – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter nine, Verses 1-2

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: 2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – House of Wisdom

We’ve spoken at length about the “Strange Woman” in several previous devotionals. We’ve followed through the book of Proverbs, as it gave us additional detail about her house. To be more particular, not so much about the house itself, but how she prepared ahead of time, to commit sin.

But one thing was made perfectly clear… Her house lead not only to death, but to hell itself.

Here, we get a look into Wisdom’s house, and we can note right off the bat, that there are differences to be made between the House of Wisdom and the House of the Strange Woman. We’ll not go through every difference here in this devotional, but will hash them out as they come throughout this chapter.

First difference I’d like to point out, is that there’s no mention of the Strange Woman building anything at all. I believe that it’s safe to assume that the “Goodman who was away on a long journey, and won’t be back until an appointed time,”would have been the builder of that particular house.

But here in chapter nine, Wisdom is the builder of her own house. This shouldn’t be surprising in the least, due to the fact that Wisdom (the Holy Ghost) is the Spirit of God Almighty, and as the scriptures say, “the builder of all things is God.”

It’s revealing that Wisdom built her house, yet the Strange woman didn’t. God the Father is the Creator, Satan, our adversary, is a deceiver. The Holy Ghost built something wonderful. Satan dressed and decorated things that were already there.

Satan doesn’t “create” anything that is ever any good, but will decorate anything he can to give wickedness a delightful appearance. For example, Wisdom gathered food for a meal and set the table for a banquet. The Strange Woman made sacrifices first, then decorated and perfumed her bed for sin.

We’ve got Wisdom preparing the table for a meal, which will provide food for sustenance, energy, well-being, or anything else that we benefit from with a great meal. The Strange Woman prepared her bed, which in her case, provided to be a tool to fulfill her own lusts, and dragging others down to the pit, as they had intentions of fulfilling their own.

When you walk into Wisdom’s house, you walk away full, and better for it. When you walk into the Strange Woman’s house, you may not be able to walk out.

Prayer

Father,

Thank you for your grace, that you would offer to us freely, your Spirit and your Wisdom. May you cause for us to be wise in word and deed, and grant us the understanding required to utilize this wisdom properly, and for your glory. Lead us away from the house of the Strange Woman, and all of her wiles, but lead us along the path of righteousness, as we seek out your Kingdom and your righteousness. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

Amen

Have you ever been at a crossroad in your life, where you could clearly recognize that one way lead to the house of the Strange Woman, and the other way lead to the house of Wisdom?
