Proverbs 8: King James Bible
Knowledge Better than Gold – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eight, Verses
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Knowledge Better than Gold
I read an article from Time’s website, that gives us a shining example, why the verses above are not only true, but a lifeline sent to us directly by the Father. The article was about the fate of those who’ve won life-changing amounts of money, by way of Power Ball, or any other Lottery.
Isn’t this the dream of the majority of Americans? Winning enough to cause you and your family to be set for life? Personally speaking, I wouldn’t be offended by it!
But what sounds great, doesn’t mean that it’s best. While reading the article, I was surprised to find that over 70% of those big time winners, lose it withing a couple of years.
How does this fit in with the scriptures above? Well, when we look at the examples given, among others that you can find in a Google search, the element missing when these folks win big, is the wisdom to use it properly, and knowledge of how not to cut off their nose to spite their face.
Suicides and murders have been the end result for some people, bankruptcy and jail time for others. Many have been quoted saying that they’d be better off not having won at all. Why? Because the Lord’s instruction, wisdom, and knowledge, were not at play in the lives of those who wound up winning. At least from what I’ve come to find out, that’s what I’ve extrapolated.
The thing is, with the Lord’s instruction, wisdom, and knowledge, all other things become possible, or at least do-able. Back to the lottery winners…
I’ve not looked into it, but I’d be willing to bet, that should someone hold those three attributes of the Father, and cherish them as a precious gift more valuable than anything, and wound up winning a large sum of money, their end would be much different than that 70% of those who wind up with a curse on their lives.
I received a word from the Lord several years ago. He said.”You have no idea, how many people use the gifts that I give them against me.” I think that this is possible to do with anything that we come across, not just money.
When we place things and stuff, with more importance than the sound wisdom, instruction and knowledge of the Living God, we will at some point veer off course, and possibly do damage, or cause others to do damage, to their own lives.

We ask that, as we traverse through this life, cause for us not to fall into the traps of either sudden riches or sudden calamity. Keep a guard upon us, so that we are always well rooted in you at all times, despite the strength of the winds that come against us, no matter what they are. Grant us an enormous portion of your wisdom, knowledge, and a strong understanding into your instruction, so that we become better servants, and vessels of your Holy Ghost. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
