20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses
This is one of those verses, where we can see clear evidence of the authorship of the Lord. The reason I say that, is because in Solomon’s day, the satellite imagery of the seafloor wasn’t as developed as it is today.
Were we to take the Father away from the authorship, and rest it on the shoulders of man’s imagination, the dew coming from the clouds is something observable, so no big revelation there. But the broken up depths?
Considering the idea of tectonic plates didn’t crop up till the early 1900’s, and mapping of the ridges found in our largest oceans weren’t realized until we started to stretch telegraph cables across them, perhaps we should take pause at the weight of this piece of scripture. Somehow, Solomon just so happened to jot down geographical realities that no man had ever seen.
But this isn’t the first time that the Lord leaves a clear fingerprint in his Word. He does it everywhere, from Genesis to Maps. Let’s not forget what King David revealed to us in the book of Psalms, where he gives us his oceanographer credentials with the following verse that is equally amazing.
Psalm 8: King James Bible
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Now you tell me, how a shepherd, turned warrior, turned King of Israel, knows anything at all about the invisible, underwater global conveyor belt, of underwater oceanic rivers, such as the Gulf Stream and the host of other paths of deep water circulation. This is not the poetic ramblings of man, but is instead writings of one guided by the Spirit of the Living God.
Notice that he doesn’t tell us that the Lord has knowledge of the depth being broken up. It says by his knowledge, they’re broken up. His knowledge, is capable of carving up the deep. This give us a whole new definition of the phrase, “Knowledge is Power.”
This gives us a bit of an understanding why he sits back and laughs at those who plot against him. How vast and deep our Lord truly is, how could one measure the different ways he is above and beyond our most complex thoughts?
And after all that being said, he emptied himself of that profound greatness and strength, to be born a man, and create an opportunity for us to spend eternity with him. It truly boggles the mind…

Prayer – Knowledge is Power
Your knowledge is something that we can only try to imagine. Incorporate your knowledge, that which you would give us, along with your wisdom and also your understanding, not just in us, but throughout the entirety of the Body of Christ. Help us to develop in these three as it correlates with your will for our lives, to be better representatives according to your purpose. And this we pray in the name of Jesus.
Have you ever taken the time to consider the phrase “knowledge is power,” particularly as it relates to the Lord?
