4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman: 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Protection of Wisdom
Here is another instance of a two fold meaning for scripture. Physically wise on the one hand, and spiritually wise on the other.
Also, as we’ve touched on in a previous chapter of Proverbs, this is a tale of two women. One representing the things of the Lord, the other representing the things of this world, which as simultaneous the things of the enemies of God.
The Lord has told us over and over, how to seek him for wisdom and understanding. Also to use discretion, knowledge, and to keep our ears inclined and hearts open to the instruction of the Lord.
All previous verses, we’re given warning about the strange woman, to stay away, and not fall for her wily or seductive ways. We’ve discussed previously, this goes for those who harbor the traits of the strange woman, and also as it relates to the seductions of this world and all of its systems.
But the verses above are saying something a little different. The Lord is actually giving us the ingredients to strange woman repellent. Protection of Wisdom and of Understanding is actually a gift from the Father when you think about it.
Wisdom and understanding of the Lord God Almighty, will repel the strange woman, and will drain the temptation out of the things that this world enjoys to throw at us, that would cause for us to stumble.
Keep them as close and as personal as you would a loving sister, or a close member of the family. Cherish and seek the Lord through these things, because when the Lord is big in your eyes, everything else becomes much smaller.
