Daily Inspiration from This Verse – Pure Heart
Some people believe that in order to get friends in high places, you need to be an ear tickler, or some sort of man pleaser. In other words, be the type of person that a situation requires to be, in order that you look better amongst whatever company is around. Ever known the type?
I’ve known a handful of people, who are one type of person with one crowd, and another type of person with a different crowd. There’s nothing genuine or pure in that way of being. And it never goes unnoticed.
When I was a foreman, there were a few people who would tell me what they thought I wanted to hear, rather than what I truly wanted to hear, which was honesty, or some purity of heart, concerning their thoughts on a matter.
Outside of that, I’ve known people who had no problem talking things of the Lord with me, then were tight lipped about anything of that topic with others. I’ve actually known one person, who does a complete flip flop on that subject, believing in the Lord in one circumstance, then denying him in another. No pure heart will flip flop on any matter, unless there is an honest change of mind.
Having a pure heart doesn’t mean that you’ve lived a pure life. Look at King David for example. His sins are legendary, but so is his heart for the Lord.
We have the privilege and the blessed gift of salvation, that brings us closer to the Father than was ever available since the fall of Adam. But even still, his eye is keen upon our hearts, in search for purity. That pure heart is also available toward him, and toward obedience of his Word.
Our intentions line up with the Lord when we have a pure heart. Our actions and the flesh may resist these intentions, but even more, the Lord gives us strength. I would venture to say that since salvation has been made available, a pure heart is impossible to have without it.
When you think about it, nothing is pure, unless it is a direct creation of the hand of the Lord. Saying that, I think of his requirement of unhewn stones, or using stones that have never been touched by a tool, in order to build him an altar.
Let’s combine the Lord Jesus into the verse above:
He that loveth pureness of Christ’s heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. I only added the word “Christ’s,” but in doing that, we can see how to look at this verse in a manner that means so much more to us today since his first coming.
You may recall that Jesus said we who confess him before men, the same will he confess before his Father. Interesting… I suppose that answers a question about the verse above; the grace of who’s lips will cause for us to be friends with the King?
Christ Jesus the Lord.

Thank you for your precious gift of salvation. Help us to always bear remembrance of all that you went through in order for our salvation to be possible. Cleanse our hearts from all of the filth of this world, and from every impurity from any source, that would cause for it to be stained. Help us to always move and live by your Spirit, worshipping you in spirit and in truth, with a pure heart always before you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
Does it eat at your conscience when you do anything outside of a pure heart?
