Proverbs 26: King James Bible
Rain in Harvest – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter twenty six, Verse 1
1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not seemly for a fool.
Daily Inspiration from This Verse – Rain in Harvest
Unless you own a ski slope, or are living in a place where you need to harvest water, both examples that the Lord gives us in the verse above are problematic. Not the end of the world, but troublesome nonetheless.
At least as far as the Lord’s concerned, giving honor to a fool is just as problematic as rain in harvest, or snow during summertime. Let’s just brush up what the Lord means when referring to a fool. I know we’ve talked about this several times in the past, but to make short of it, a fool (Biblically) is one who says in their heart that there is no God.
Having that quick definition of a fool in mind, how many think the times that we are living in are akin to rain in harvest in the eyes of the Lord? (Raising my hand.) In other words, according to the Word of God, it’s already snowing in summer!
People who truly believe that there is no God are in power, respected, celebrated, and cherished as celebrities. Honor is given to fools all the time, and this is going on all over the planet. This isn’t a new thing, but is more and more celebrated as time passes.
Not knowing the hearts and minds of people that we can observe being honored all around the world, it is sometimes presumptuous on our parts to assume that someone is Godless or not. On the other hand, nowadays it’s more accepted to be Godless, than it is to be holy, and some wear that Godlessness as a badge. This is why I believe that the Lord himself is telling us this from his perspective, rather than our own.
I’m capitalizing the “G” on the word “Godless” deliberately by the way. There is only one true God, all others are counterfeit small “g” gods. Many people that would be fools biblically, adhere to the teachings of a small “g” god. We know these to be a combination of demons and fallen angels.
Others look to themselves to be in the place of God. Atheism and ideas of the like place faith in themselves, rather than the God that they don’t believe in. Isn’t it telling of the times we’re living in, how honored the Godless are in this world?
You can’t go anywhere without observing situations where good and evil have been blurred. Morality has been cast aside as immoral, and what the Lord considers immoral is held up in exaltation. Unless of course it is a form of immorality that goes crosswise with the world’s agenda. At least for now.
If you don’t believe that the Lord is coming soon, then you need to only take a look at what is going on in the world just a little bit. It is raining at harvest time, and it’s snowing in the summertime.
The Lord has a plan, and has been waiting for everything to gel perfectly together, in order to follow through with said plan. Nobody knows the day or the hour, but I believe that we are in the season of his return.
Keep looking unto the Lord folks! Our redeemer’s coming to make things right! If you don’t have Christ Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, get yourself saved!

Thank you for your Word, and for all of the things you have placed inside it; teaching us the things you think about, and showing us what you think is right, and what you think is wrong. Help for us to cut through the gray areas that this world has created, and clear the waters of morality where it’s been muddied by deceitful indoctrination. Help us to live out our spiritual lives and our physical lives the way that you planned for us to do so, rather than to be the fool. This we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
