Proverbs 25: King James Bible
Refinement – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter twenty five, Verse 4-5
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. 5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Refinement
Above is the overall look into the life of a Born again Christian. An ongoing process of being worked on, made better, purified, and molded by the Father.
Refinement does not happen easily. Silver and gold is often used as examples of things that require to go through the fires of refinement. In many cases, these are examples of the walk of the believer, having the dross removed through life’s trials.
Do not get refinement confused with being tempted. The Lord refines, and will either set up a scenario that will do so, or will use something thrown at you in order to do so. But it isn’t the Lord who tempts us, it’s the enemy.
Satan and any of his underlings are always on the ready to tempt us with whatever he thinks will work to serve his own purposes. These come from him, either through what he’s established in the world or in other ways.
Also, we shouldn’t get refinement confused with the consequences we suffer from self inflicted issues. These come most often by doing things contrary of the Word of God. That’s what it all boils down to when you think about it, either willingly or through ignorance.
When it comes down to self inflicted troubles, we have the ability to repent and decide to do things differently if we snap out of whatever the mindset is that is causing us to fall into trouble. I’d suppose that when we learn better, then do better, we’ve been refined that much more because of it.
The Father allows us to go through things for our own good. I believe that every believer will face refinement at several different stages throughout their lives. Each time will focus on an area that needs work, or may be a preemptive refinement to condition you for a battle ahead.
I’d like to point out, that the Lord refines those who are already his. We are not being refined in order to become his. Many people believe that refinement is required in order to get to Heaven. This is a false notion, and removes the finality from the work of Christ Jesus.
We go through refinement as the Lord orchestrates, so that we become purified through it, stronger from it, and wiser for it. When we serve the Father, refinement comes.
It isn’t a pretty process if you’ve ever caught a glimpse of someone melting down silver or gold to remove the dross. First it must be broken down into a liquid by way of extreme heat, then the dross is removed. Followed by being molded into whatever shape the smith wills.
Only by extreme heat does the dross come out, in the end changing gold mixed with other minerals to become refined and pure at the end of the process. Perhaps when we find ourselves in extreme heat of different situations, it may be good for us to remember what heat does to silver and gold, and what comes out on the other side of the process.

Romans 9: King James Bible
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
Titus 2: King James Bible
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
James 1: King James Bible
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Sometimes we tend to forget that your hand is upon us, guiding us through different things that we are uncomfortable with. It is difficult to see what you are doing in our lives while we are being refined, going through your refiner’s fire. Help us to always remember that your will for our lives is to grow strong in you, and closer to you, and use refinement to achieve that end. Even through our worst of times, please help us to put things into perspective with you at the helm. This we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
