Proverbs 15: King James Bible
Seek Knowledge – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter fifteen, Verse 14
14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Seek Knowledge
Knowledge is one of three items that all work in unicin, relating to the folks that are after the Lord’s own heart. The other tow that work together with knowledge are wisdom and understanding.
Take one out of the bunch, and you have confusion, misunderstanding, incorrect context, and folly. In the verse above, it begins with (paraphrasing), the heart of someone with understanding searches out knowledge.
The person that would have an understanding heart, would be someone wise enough to know what to understand, and what knowledge would even be, in order to search it out. So my belief is, the person being referenced to in this verse, is wise by default.
So at play are all three gears. Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. There are two types of each, or rather, there is a set given to us by the Father, and one by the world.
One is the truth, one is against the truth, not just opposed to it. Often, the knowledge of this world goes against the knowledge of the Lord. As Christians, we believe that the Lord is right, and the world wrong. From the world’s point of view, we’re all nuts (which is fine by me).
It’s far better for this world to think us nuts, but to be in right standing with the Father, than it is to believe a lie, just to get along, with a doomed to fail worldly system. To be friends with the world is to be an enemy of the Lord. That’s scripture, and as plain as it gets.
Above in this verse, we see the contrast between the two. A wise man with an understanding heart, and the mouth of a fool chewing on foolishness. I understand the fool to be this worldly system. I don’t find that to be an exclusive identity of the fool here, but is a perfect fit concerning what we’re talking about.
The Lord God will lay low the wisdom of this world, and will once and for all confound the wisdom of the wise, thwarting the cleverness of the clever. The wisdom that this world has to offer is foolishness to the Father. And many a prideful, over-educated, worldly, see it to believe it types, are going to be very sad one day (and I believe very soon).

1 Corinthians 1: King James Bible
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1 Corinthians 3: King James Bible
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
James 4: King James Bible
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Thank you so much for all that you’ve placed in your Word for us to enjoy, learn, consume, benefit, and grow from. We know through your Word Lord, that the true wisdom that is to be found, comes directly from you. So we ask you for a good measure of your wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, that we would become all the wiser servants, and to refrain from being the fool caught in folly. This we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Has your mind ever convinced you to do meaningless things, when your heart was telling you to seek knowledge?
