Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Sound Wisdom
Something that is sound isn’t broken or incomplete. Sound wisdom is whole, and lacks nothing. Here is a brief definition into how the word “sound” is being used in the scriptures above, brought to you by Dictionary.com.
From a worldly point of view, sound wisdom would be considered something that completely makes sense to us, as it relates to our senses. A Biblical view of sound wisdom, would be wisdom that flows from the mouth of the Father, and covers what may relate to our spiritual senses rather than only those that are physical.
A worldly sense of sound wisdom and a Biblical view of sound wisdom are two different things. Worldly wisdom is gained by our efforts to grasp it in one form or another. True wisdom comes from the Father and is often followed by understanding and knowledge. Instead of these being something that we ourselves attain, they are given to us by the Lord. One is learned and the other is given.
The book of James tells us that we need only ask for the wisdom of the Lord, and he’ll happily give it to us liberally, without upbraiding us for asking him. I think of a patient Father that answers the same question from his kids over and over again, without getting annoyed.
Nobody knows everything that we ought to say, do, think, behave, and act, all of the time in every circumstance. All of us are found needing wisdom at some point.
The Lord is the Creator of all things, and that includes sound wisdom. We often recognize the Lord as the creator of the universe, this planet, people, Heaven, and other things of that nature. How often do we recognize that he is also the Author and Maker of wisdom and things of the like?
The faster we learn to stop leaning upon our own understanding that we’ve developed by worldly means, and instead go directly to the Father for sound wisdom and good council, the better we’ll be for it.

Prayer for Sound Wisdom
Please keep us always mindful of you, what you’ve done, and what you provide. Stir us up to inquire wisdom and understanding from you Lord. So that in our ignorance, we don’t turn our own way and forsake what you’ve laid up for us to receive. Grant us the patience to wait for your instruction.
In the name of the Lord Jesus, your only begotten Son we pray.
