Proverbs 6: King James Bible
The Way of Life – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter six, Verses 23-24
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: 24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – The Way of Life
We’ve discussed the Strange Woman in a previous devotional. For this one, I’d like to shine a light on something that I think we as Christians take for granted at times. Here are a couple of verses that causes us to face the difference between the Old and New Testaments. Well, at least in a sense.
In these verses above, we’re instructed that the law is light, and the commandment is a lamp. Now, we have Christ Jesus, who is the Light of the world. The only begotten Son of the Most High God, who is God, and is the way, truth, and the life.
The former is a means by which to be on the road that leads to the Old Testament Saints waiting point for their Savior, which was a Paradise section, or otherwise known as Abraham’s Bosom. The latter is after the coming of said Savior (Christ Jesus), and we are fortunate enough to have access to him presently, instead of having to wait for is first coming.
As they were on a road that would eventually lead them to Christ, we begin our journey after having received Christ Jesus unto ourselves. To associate these verses with Christ Jesus is easy, especially if we can understand that Jesus is all over the Old Testament.
In fact, off the top of my head, there are three people in the Old Testament that actually met him. First was Abraham just before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, second was Jacob wrestling the Lord till morning, third was Joshua just prior to the battle of Jericho.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
As Jesus said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” And that’s the truth. Here’s a secret that I don’t think many people realize… The Lord Jesus Christ is the one, who renamed Jacob to instead be called Israel.

Ever notice that the Father’s definition, and the world’s definition of the way of life are two completely different things?
