Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Thoughts of the Righteous
There is a place that the Father pays attention to, which is the last place that we simple humans would think of, concerning thoughts. And that place would be the heart.
As an incredible coincidence, science has recently caught up with the Bible, with evidence that the heart has it’s own little brain! Something that the Bible has been filling us in on for thousands of years. For some great examples of how this “mini brain” effects us individually, check out a site that I found to look into this HERE.
Anyway, the Lord looks upon the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
1 Samuel 16: King James Bible
7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
Hebrews 4: King James Bible
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
In the New Testament, Jesus gives us a lesson about the things that come out of our mouth. The conclusion of what he had to say (to sum it up), was that the things that come from our mouth, reflects the things that reside in our hearts.
Anyone can tame their tongue in short, controlled situations (at least anyone should be able to). For example, watch your mouth in front of Grandma.
But what about sudden outbursts, or how we speak when we’re with friends or family? What about when we don’t feel like anyone’s taking anything into account?
The things that come out of us when we’re pressed in any way, will show us with great precision, the contents or thoughts of our hearts. And should these thoughts be righteous, then (as the scripture tells us) they’re right.
If they’re right, they’ll be in sync to the kinds of things that the Lord would have us dwell on or think (typically Word based). These thoughts, through the Holy Ghost, will override the carnal thoughts of the mind.
The number one method to achieve this, is a steady diet of the Word of God, through devotional reading, but also deep study into the Word. Not one or the other, but both, peppered with much prayer as you go, and throughout your day.
And as the Lord would say,”Against such, there is no law.”

Acts 8: King James Bible
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
2 Corinthians 10: King James Bible
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Thank you as always for your Word, and for all that you’ve placed within it. Thank you for your care and nourishment through your Word. Lord, should you find iniquity within us, please root it out, and cause all of the thoughts and content of our hearts to be as what you’d have found in the chest of the Lord Jesus. And in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus we pray.
Would you consider your thoughts to be the thoughts of the righteous?
