Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Understanding Wisdom
Here it is again, the constant relationship between wisdom and understanding. The construction of this verse allows us to understand the point behind the first half of this verse.
For those who have been giving the understanding that comes from above, they have the ability or opportunity, to recognize wisdom that has been set before them. Meaning, they understand what they have been presented with, and can spot the wise options that are surrounded with foolish ones.
The wisdom that is before the one with understanding, is found on the road that the Lord has set his feet upon, and will only propel him forward in the way that has been prepared for him. This is true for those of us who may be walking down that road.
But for those who have strayed far from the path the the Lord has blazed before them, and has taken different lefts and rights at several different intersections, the wise choice is always set before them as well. But the question is, are they equipped with the understanding that is required to recognize the wise choice set before them?
That wise choice, should it be recognized, will bring them right back to the point from where they strayed. There’s a Petra song called “Just Reach Out,” which have a small chunk of lyrics that have always stuck with me.
Without quoting verbatim, they say something along the lines of: You say you’ve walked one thousand steps away. Well, don’t you know that it’s only one step back?
The Lord has a rapid relocation plan which the Bible calls “repentance.” That relocation plan, will take you from wherever you’ve strayed to, and place you right back on the spot where you left off, hopefully all the smarter for it, so you don’t stray again.
And at times it seems like it’s a harsh thing, to be brought to the point of repentance. Well, this greatly depends on how stiff necked you are, and what it takes fr you to come to repentance. If it only takes a small nudge from the Holy Ghost, letting you know that you’re straying from where the Lord wants you to be, then you’ll probably only suffer a little conviction in spirit.
BUT, if you’re like me (a former rebellious child and stubborn Irishman), and have a tendency to learn things the hard way, it takes all kinds of bells, whistles, smacking around, and more, before coming to the realization that I may be doing something that I shouldn’t be doing. Blessed be the Lord, that he has taught me to step back and allow his will to be done, rather than my own.
The eyes of a fool won’t ever notice the wise choices to make for themselves, because they can’t recognize them among all of the foolish decisions or actions that are mixed in around it. They do not have the understanding that comes from the Father, in order to do so.
They are of their father the Devil (the originator of the foolish choice), and will choose things how he would have them choose. And without a doubt, the enemy will never, ever, promote anyone to choose anything wisely. But will instead cause for people to choose the foolish things, in order to keep them from being mindful of the Father, and finding Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Thank you for leading us by your Holy Ghost, and for guiding our steps along the way that you have prepared for us. Our enemy is encompassed all about us Lord, and seeks to lead us away from you. Let it never be so Lord, and may all efforts that are made by your enemies to lead your children astray, fall to the ground, never making fruition, and may all those hiding in darkness, be exposed by the Light of Christ Jesus. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
