Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Way of a Fool
If ever you run into a place in the Bible, where it talks about people doing what’s right in their own eyes, it’s always a bad thing. It’s something that we all do, and more often than not, it doesn’t end well.
But as Christians, that want nothing more than to please the Father’s heart, we’ll do this in ignorance, or by being mistaken. But there’s all kinds of belief systems out there that all agree, that to do anything other than what’s right in your own eyes, is wrong.
We do what the Lord God Almighty thinks is right, because he established right and wrong. Should we remove him from the equation, we get the mantra of Satanism, which is “Do what thou wilt.” That is the bottom line of the way of a fool, to do what’s right in one’s own eyes.
Don’t forget, that we are either approaching, or are in the middle of, the period of time that the Bible tells us, that good will considered evil, and evil good. What’s right will be replaced with wrong, and vice versa. I’m certain that I’m not the only one that can see this happening in real time before our very eyes.
Often, what’s right in our eyes, winds up being far different than how the Lord would look at something. The Father calls people that do this fools. Why? Because they don’t seek counsel, or even worse, reject the counsel of those who know better, or reject the counsel of God.
And the end result is usually a disaster. Think about the similarities between what we see in the verse above, versus what’s said about people who insist on defending themselves in court, instead of getting a lawyer. Generally speaking, it is considered very unwise.
Since we’re here in a world that insists on hating the Lord, we might as well come to terms, that it’s against his rule of law concerning right and wrong. Since we are a fallen race residing in this fallen world, it is best to find out what the Lord has to say about just about anything, and reject the ways of the world. Isn’t that one of the ingredients of obedience to the Father anyways? To do what he says over what the world says?
Sure we’ll be hated for it, as some are today. Heck, in many places even killed for it. But of all the promises that the Lord Jesus gave us, is that the world will hate us. So that being the case, rejoice in the Lord and in the power of his might, and seek his counsel for anything that you can, and be wise.

Thank you for giving us your Word, as a manual to life, and to getting to know your heart. Help us to know what you would have us do in any given situation, and forgive us if ever we’ve done what’s right in our own eyes, instead of what’s right in yours. Keep us always mindful of your counsel, and give us the good sense to discern the world’s destructive and sinful perversions of what’s right and wrong, and to shun that worldly counsel. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
Has the Lord ever stopped you in your tracks, just before you’d have found yourself walking in the way of a fool?
