Many of you might have noticed that I’ve not been posting as much for a while now- I owe you an explanation.

If you’re new here, let me let you in on something that others who have been following for years might already know. I almost never talk about me or my family here on the S.T.I.C. site, as it is devoted to ushering in people to salvation, biblical education, or edification. So, writing anything about my family or me is a strange thing for me to do.

Over the past month, we’ve (my family and myself) been hammered with obstacles from several directions, in just about any category you might be able to think of.

A few months ago I tore something important in my left elbow (that I’m assuming will need some sort of surgery as it hasn’t gotten any better) rendering my arm nearly useless. Around the same time, I blew out my right knee in a way that it swell up for several days, gets better, then goes back to square one as soon as I do something more active than walking, so that’s been a thing.

But far more important to me- my wife suffered two heart attacks over the past month, and much of my time has been devoted to her. She’s not out of the woods yet but is better now than she was after having a stent placed in a blocked artery. Right now she’s taking medications to assist blood flow while doctors try to determine what to do about several other narrowed arteries.

It just appears like we’re getting all kinds of different attacks thrown at us over the past two or three months- physically, spiritually, and financially. We could sure use your support and prayers right now.

Spiritually speaking, I had a demonic confrontation right here at home. I did want to share this, but wanted to wait until Halloween was over, so as not to come across as telling something that fits with the wickedness of the “holiday.”

It happened about a month – month and a half ago, was out of nowhere, only lasted a few minutes, and the Lord took care of it- but it still happened. Here’s how it went down…

A Sudden Demonic Attack

I have a spot in the cellar where I go down and attempt to get some things done, exercise, or a variety of other things. Well, I was down there, as I’ve been a thousand times in the past, and I had a sudden grip in the gut that I hadn’t felt in quite some time.

I’ve had experiences dealing with the demonic on a spiritual warfare level, and have had confrontations in the past either warring over territory, casting them out of people, or other miscellaneous reasons that are escaping me at the moment. Anyone who’s partaken in similar things knows the gut gripping feeling I’m talking about- particularly when there’s a blatant, sudden attack, or the Holy Spirit allows you to become hyper-aware of the presence of wickedness via discernment.

In the blink of an eye, I went from being as comfortable as ever, to every fiber of my being wanting to get back upstairs as fast as possible. Senses perked up, and without physically seeing anything, I’m convinced that spiritually, I pinpointed its location about 15 feet away.

After a few seconds of trying to figure out this weirdness while resisting that urge to flee, I felt a spark of outrage. Outrage in a sense of “how dare you!” started to well up in my spirit, is the best way I can describe it.

Following that sense were reminders about who I am in Christ, who’s dwelling within me- and who’s greater. As this was happening the sense of dread began to wash away and was replaced with a boldness that was kindled into a fire as I rattled off any scripture that came to mind out loud, that pertained to that situation.

It was bound, cast out with any doors that allowed it in to be shut behind it, and the event ended just as quickly as it began, leaving me to praise the Lord and give thanks for the aid, encouragement, and boldness to stand when everything in my flesh wanted to get out of Dodge.

I stayed down there for another hour or so, still on the alert and to be honest, a little paranoid. Taking double takes if I saw something on the corner of my eye, mind playing tricks, etc… But the beauty of that is, I was able to recognize the difference between being paranoid that something might happen again, versus the full-on pressure of a legit attack. There’s an enormous difference between the two.

Why it was there I have no idea, and I failed to give it the time of day to ask. But I believe that the Lord allowed it to happen, or at least allowed me to get sensitive enough to it to enable me to take action.

Spiritually, there have been several other strange things that have gone on around here, and we deal with them as they come while praying against all that we anticipate.

As I Write This Post

Case in point- We have too many cats. Normally, they all get along just fine, but as I write this, they’ve been attacking each other, and going all-out war crazy toward one another suddenly without warning, at least without warning to me. Someone dropping a dictionary flat on the floor in a quiet library kind of suddenly.

Yes, cats can fight for their own reasons, I understand that trust me. But it seems that every time I start writing and making some progress, they ALL go at it. After doing my part in putting an end to it, I pray, bind anything that might be the cause, and they settle for awhile.

There’s a good reason why I make anything out of this.

To make a long story short, I heard someone walking around in the patch of woods behind the house last night around 1:00 AM. I went outside and could track through hearing, someone walking through the woods behind my neighbor’s fence, heading toward the wooded boundary of our property, which begins at the corner of said fence.

So you know, where the steps were coming from isn’t a place that anyone would ever decide to go for a stroll. There are roads and sidewalks for any normal person to walk on. After around 11 PM you can hear a pin drop in this neighborhood, and nobody in their right mind would have any need to walk around in this small patch of woods day or night.

I’m good at eliminating different animal sounds at night when it comes to steps being taken in the woods. This comes by way of being outside all hours of the night taking dogs out to relieve themselves for over 25 years. I’ve heard what dogs sound like, and just about any other four-legged animal that the woods can provide around here.

What I heard walking through the woods headed toward the property was on two legs taking one careful step at a time. I stood quietly without moving a muscle on the deck, staying close to the door just in case- I’ve made the mistake of walking upon a black bear in the dark of night in the past. Ever since that happened I’m more careful around here at night.

I clearly heard the steps walk all the way up to the boundary of our property and stop dead in its tracks. I stood motionless for about fifteen minutes with no exterior lights on, waiting to see or hear what would happen next.

For the record, animals neither care nor recognize property boundaries. If I were wrong and it was a bear, moose, or deer, what would they care? They’d just keep on plowing through the leaves and twigs to get to their destination. But this just stopped and didn’t move again.

Also for the record, our property has been anointed from marker to marker all the way around.

Here’s why I bring any of this up…

What broke the silence and caused me to dash back into the house, was the sound of our cats having a battle royal out of nowhere. They were all scattered about the house and asleep before I went outside.

I went back out after settling everything down inside and of course, there was nothing. No more steps, nothing strange. Who knows, maybe it/he/she/ or whatever it was, took off while I was inside, distracted by the cats.

After re-reading what I just wrote, I get the feeling that I might not have elaborated on how strange of an event this was, so please understand that I don’t look for a demon under every rock, or blame sounds in the night on anything nefarious- unless it is.

Where the walking stopped, knowing that it was a two-legged walker, and the cats going from 0-100 for zero reasons, all make me think that it was more than simply someone sneaking through the woods to get to the other side.

Either way, I wasn’t about to march out there to see what it was in the pitch black. With my luck that’s when the neighbors would hear something, turn their rear lights on, and wonder what in the world I was doing back there at one something in the morning.

Nothing Surprises Me These Days

One would be a fool to think that you could keep a site like this up and running and believe that this fallen world would be okay with it. Or that the Kingdom of Darkness would ignore the 24/7 call to salvation that it offers to anyone who comes across the page. I get why these kinds of things happen.

But I also get that complacency comes gradually, and sometimes we (meaning me) might need a kick in the pants to snap out of it. I believe the situation above is one of those circumstances. I believe that it also may have given me more insight into why we’re struggling in other areas of our lives here.

The two accounts I went through above are the stranger kinds of things, but we’re getting clobbered by other, more “normal” things as well. The health issues above are a good slice of that.

Kid problems, vehicle problems, tire problems, house problems… All kinds of things that are normal as time progresses are all kind of going on in rapid succession. Normal kinds of problems happening in strange circumstances I guess.

As far as financially, we’re in a tight and tough spot that is compounded with all of this mess we’re going through, coupled with a drop in business due to the whole covid thing. Fear trying to creep in however it can through bills and town taxes, etc.

At the end of the day, it’s all just a multi-faceted, multi-directional attack. One of which I know hasn’t only happened to me and my family, but many others.

To Conclude

The war is real, the battle is real, the enemy is real, but so is our God, the Blood of the Lamb, and all of the tools he’s given us as weapons of our warfare. I’ve remained available to counsel, minister to, or correspond with anyone who’s reached out.

But as far as content creation goes, it’s been very difficult to concentrate enough to get anything meaningful done with new pages up to this point. But I pray that soon things get beaten back far enough to sit down, commune with the Lord, get his info, and get it on screen, without my attention and thoughts running in 20 different directions!

I haven’t forgotten about the 2 Corinthians studies and will pick it back up as soon as I can Lord willing. That is unless the Father has other plans for the next article.

So, there you have it. My apologies for this article rather than the more normal setting, but I wanted to share some of these things with you so you might understand why I’ve not been more consistent. It’ll get better!
