Proverbs 28: King James Bible
When the Wicked Rise – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter twenty eight, Verse 28
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
Daily Inspiration from This Verse – When the Wicked Rise
Men hide themselves when the wicked rise, but why do they rise in the first place? Historically speaking, there aren’t too many occasions where a wicked ruler came to power over a just and righteous people, and had any real lasting power. Perhaps over nations with cultures that exclude the Lord and all of his precepts, but any nation where the Lord is highly requested the overtly wicked are few and far between.
I used the word “overtly” for a reason. Just because we don’t always see wickedness taking place in this world’s systems of government, bear in mind that it is always there. Don’t forget who this worldly system belongs to.
Covert wickedness abounds where overt wickedness is kept to a minimum. That is of course, until a nation acclimates toward what is wicked, and is persuaded that it is no longer wicked, but righteous.
Let’s take television for an example. Most of the content available today would be banned back in the early eighties, right? But today, it’s par for the course. This is where we are at today in this nation, because we have been gently persuaded over the course of dozens of years, evil is good, and good is evil.
This will continue until there is a breaking point, where people begin to come out of hiding against the wicked, and begin speaking up against it. I believe this is happening in this country and around the world right now.
The ones who are told to sit back down and shut up, are typically the ones who have slept too long in the first place. If you happen to be a Trump supporter here in the United States, then you know exactly what I’m saying without any further explanation necessary.
Biblically, we see the constant yo-yo effect going on with the nation of Israel (both kingdoms). When the people were doing wickedness, so did the King. That wickedness is what the King would be brought up in, so would stay par for the course. Until of course, the Lord managed to step in, or until trouble came from every direction.
Then the King would go before the Lord and repent, but only partially bringing things back to the way the Lord wanted them to be, until he departed making way for the next king. When a righteous king was brought into power, he didn’t take ear to the public opinion as far as what was going to go on with the high places, the groves, the idols. He would behave in boldness against that which was wicked, and the righteous would come out of the woodwork to support him.
This kicks the second half of the verse into play. When the wicked are gone, the righteous increase. But this seems to only last for so long until that worldly acclimation transpires again.
This introduces us into the reality, that the world needs a savior. This introduces the reality that the world needs the King of Kings, to rule righteously over a world of people, that has swayed in and out of righteousness over thousands of years.
There will be a false king that shall arise, posing as the true King. He will give the appearance of gathering the nations together as a hen would gather her chicks, but it will be short lived, until the covert wickedness goes full on overt. Then it will be recognized for what it is, not the true King at all, but the Anti-Christ.
Conquering him will be the true King of Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ! Coming with tens of thousands of his saints, dressed for battle and ready to wipe out all of those who have trashed this place spiritually and physically. He will rule with a rod of iron, and will not sway with worldly practices, but will continue in righteousness without end!
Some people think that he will only rule for one thousand years, but that is an unfortunate misunderstanding of scripture. It will be one thousand years for the world without a tempter, Lucifer. He’ll be let out after one thousand years, then after a time, he’ll be wiped out into the Lake of Fire. But Jesus’ Rule will not end, but continue on!
These are the things I think about, when everything in this world starts to look pear shaped. There are better times coming, both for the living and dead in Christ. Hallelujah!
If you don’t want to be on the wrong side of Jesus upon his return (regardless of when that will be), please consider giving your self over to the Lord Jesus Christ and get saved! You’ll never regret it.

2 Thessalonians 2: King James Bible
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Revelation 19: King James Bible
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
Thank you for this verse, along with all of the other verses that give us hope toward righteousness, and also generating hope of the coming of the King of Kings, to step foot into Jerusalem, and reign from the throne of King David! As the saints before Christ longed to see his day come, we long to see him come back. Help us in the meantime Lord, to stay in righteousness with you, and to shun the wickedness of the world, despite its many wiles. May we be found worthy in your sight Father, to be numbered among the saints of the Lord by virtue of your Son, and your Word. Because all that he did, not what we deserve. Glory to you Lord! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
