Why did God put Satan on Earth?
Why did God put Satan on earth? I use to struggle to figure this out. Call me sheltered, but I’ve never seen or heard a comprehensive explanation to this question. That’s not to say that I haven’t heard tons of explanations that I completely disagree with. Most of which actually dive into some sort of occult train of thought. Some yin yang (Good isn’t good without evil), kinda thinking. I don’t buy that at all because there was once a time without evil. Seems many either don’t believe that or remember it. The whole time Adam would walk with God in the cool of the day, there wasn’t any evil around.
So that right there for anyone who believes that the Bible is true, and somehow adheres to that yin yang idea, get back to the beginning. In this sixth installment of the Are Demons Real series, we’re going to figure out Why God would do such a thing, making us share a planet with a being that wants to kill us. Just a heads up… I wrote this assuming that you are aware that Adam and Eve before the fall were completely different than we are today. Many things were lost when man brought death in by way of sin. That in it’s own right is a completely different topic, but I wanted to make it clear that they were not as we are now.
Insult to Injury
Let’s understand first, what the character of Lucifer was then and is now. Just going by the descriptions given in the verses in installment five of the Are Demons Real series entitled The Origin of Satan, we can attribute the following traits without stretching at all:
Pride, arrogance, spoiled, pampered, power hungry, traitorous, treacherous, narcissistic, ambitious, etc..
Now, when we’re talking about eternal beings, what would the most effective punishment be for someone who invented and embodies the traits given above? Keep in mind that death had not entered into the world yet. Let’s remember that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is just and his sentencing is just.
Understanding that God Almighty is THE Just Judge, my guess would be, to punish him in a manner that fits the crime! Put him in a situation, where the tools to carry out his ambition were always at hands reach, but just outside of his grasp. And establish everything so those who Satan deems inferior to him, actually have dominance over him. In this day and age we’d call it ‘insult to injury’.
Why would I think that? Just doing the math. Think about it for a second… Let’s see who was in charge of this place since day 6 of earth’s history.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
In case you don’t know, the “THEM” in the verse above were Adam and Eve. Okay, let’s assume that Satan fell somewhere within 100 years after creation. We know from scripture that he was in the garden as Lucifer, before the rebellion, as detailed in the account given in Ezekiel 28:13 (Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God). That reference was given to denote a pre-fallen Lucifer. But how do we see him as he came to tempt Eve into sin?
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Here’s the math part… If Adam was given by God dominion over all the living things on the earth, particularly all living thing that moved upon the earth, what about the serpent? 2+2=4. Satan was under Adam’s dominion after the rebellion, as he was once in the garden in glory, is now by the time Genesis 3 rolls around in the garden as the serpent.
The serpent certainly does qualify as being a living thing that moveth upon the earth. Adam had charge over Satan. But, as a reflection of what Satan does to God now, he went to deceive the one who Adam loved. Eve. Notice that he didn’t try to deceive Adam himself. Interesting.
The fact that Satan did not try to deceive Adam first, is because Adam heard verbatim what God said not to do, but Eve did not. I’m sure that she heard it from Adam. I guess Satan may have thought that was a good possibility for some wiggle room. But the point I guess I’m trying to make is, he (Satan) would not have gone to the Boss to try to convince him to swap authoritative positions.
Through deception, he caused Eve to sin, then Adam followed suit, actually taking the proverbial keys to the place away from Adam and held them in his hand till Christ’s crucifixion. If Eve did not listen to the serpent, or if Adam decided not to follow Eve’s sin, Satan would still be under man’s thumb today (granted if nobody ever listened to him about eating of the tree). I mean, there was only one rule, leave the tree alone!
God left Satan here as a punishment that fit the crime. Not to punish us, but to punish Satan! He wanted to rule and be like God, so the punishment was to be ruled by the creation made in God’s image. God had it well established, but man screwed it up that fateful day in the garden.
Jesus is the Remedy
This is one of the many reasons Christ Jesus came and became a sacrificial lamb without blemish or spot. To bring all who would call upon his name for salvation closer to the relationship with God that Adam enjoyed in the beginning. To mend at least in part what Adam had torn, the rift between us and God. Now, penetrating through that rift is the Holy Spirit, who the Father gives to any who ask.
Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

I believe that we see through the glass darkly. This meaning that we are only partially back up to snuff spiritually and physically compared to how Adam had it before the fall. That’s why we as believers so depend on the day when God speaks the Word, and tells the Holy Spirit to quicken us into our glorified bodies. That’s what the Bible calls the promise of the Spirit. I believe that’s how Adam was in the beginning.
To catch a glimpse of what a glorified body is like, just read and pay attention to the details of Christ Jesus after he was glorified. Scripture says that we shall be as he is. And I believe that’s exactly how Adam was before the fall. God did not put Satan and his angels here to torment us, but to be tormented by us. Now thanks to Jesus, we can do just that just by walking with God, and ruining the strongholds of the Evil One as directed by God, and being lead by the Holy Spirit.
Satan’s end is certain, and his punishment is made perfectly clear in the Bible, and he does not like to hear about that at all! Just read the back of the book and you’ll see what I mean. It will not be a good time for him, particularly once he’s hurled into the lake of fire, along with everyone who he’s dragged in there with him. Not going to be fun for him in the least, but eternal pain, burning, and punishment.
But that’s his end, it doesn’t have to be yours. Learn of Jesus, see what he did for you, and learn what God’s plan is for your life. He doesn’t will that any should perish. The whole point behind this series is to open your eyes to what’s been going on right under our noses, and to shed some light on the Spiritual Wickedness in High Places.
Jesus re-introduced them to the meaning of defeat on the Cross, and he did it because he does not want to see us be hurled into the Lake of Fire with Satan and all that are going with him.
If you are not sure of what your whereabouts will be when you die, you’d better take action on it as soon as possible.
Even today. Nobody is promised another breath. Please head on to Revelation of Salvation to learn more, and to give your heart to Christ Jesus, and learn what it is to take back what the fall of man has robbed you of, and get Satan back underneath your feet!
