Proverbs 12: King James Bible

Words of the Wicked – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter twelve, Verses 6-7

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. 7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Words of the Wicked

It doesn’t take too long to decipher the intentions of the wicked. Because what will come out of their mouths will be either pure wickedness, or camouflaged wickedness, by way of lies and half truths. Most are fooled once, then recognize something’s up.

As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Wicked people are attracted to doing what’s wrong and unprofitable in God’s eyes, like moth to a flame. It’s an abomination to them to do things properly, or justly (again, as the Lord would see proper or just).

So in their dealings, they somehow find various methods to do things treacherously. Because of this, they are overthrown personally, physically, financially, and worst of all, spiritually (should there be no intervention).

If you do some digging, you’ll find that even the filthy rich, wind up being miserable wretches, if they’re living wickedly. Could you imagine being wealthy, and everyone around you is just waiting for you to pass away, in hopes of being included in your will? There’s a callousness that comes with the territory of a wicked lifestyle.

Hearts are rock solid, and there is no honor among the wicked. Just take a look sometime, at how things happen in this world, and you’ll see it plain as day.

But for the people of Christ, who’s been born anew, and have had their hearts of stone renewed with a heart of flesh, and have been washed and cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb, we have a different method. That method is (or at least should be) the way of life, as it is instructed to us by the Author of Life himself.

The righteous mentioned above, are those that, when the Father looks upon them, can see through the lens his Only Begotten Son, Christ Jesus. It’s the righteousness of Christ, by which we are seen as righteous. As scripture tells us, we’re made to be righteousness in him.

Having a completely different set of principals to go by than the wicked, the righteous and the upright wind up with a different set of results. You become more trusted, or better said, more trustworthy. Your intentions become clear to others as righteous, because you don’t deal treacherously, but as upright as possible.

This makes for a better all around life in every way. That’s why verses like these are in the Word of God, for us to learn from, and apply them to our lives. When we do, we reap the benefits that the Lord has prepared for us.

It’s better for you and everyone around you, that you be upright in your dealings and righteous in your ways.

Thank you for all of the lessons that you’ve taught us concerning the contrast between the righteous and the wicked. Lord, we choose life, righteousness, holiness, and being upright in heart and spirit, as you would want us to be. Help us to become all the more in the likeness of Jesus, and may we please you all the more for it, and serve you all the better for it. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.

  1. Thanks Brian…a lot to ponder here. When one is righteous in Christ, he is known to all around him as being honest. Even those who don’t want to be around us, they grudgingly admit that we can be trusted. Following the teachings of the Lord, we spend far less energy than the lying unrighteous, who spend more of their energy being bad. It amazes me to see how they make life difficult for themselves, as they suffer financially/mentally/physically/spiritually. I guess it’s their stubborness. And in the end, the angels will bundle them up, to be thrown in the furnace. Thanks again, Brian…be safe Brother.

    • Hi George,
Amen Brother, it’s just not worth the hassle or the hustle, living and dealing sinfully. The problem is, there’s always a false, easy to attain, appearance of a means of escape, that the world is always willing to give the wicked. Kind of like someone chasing their hat in the wind. Just when they get close enough to grab it, the wind keeps it out of reach.

It remains to be true, that the yoke that Jesus has to offer, is much lighter and easier than anything that this wicked world will ever have to offer.
Thanks for your comment, and God bless you in Jesus name.
