Proverbs 11: King James Bible
Your Choice – Daily Devotion of Proverbs chapter eleven, Verses 4-6
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. 5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. 6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
Daily Inspiration from These Verses – Your Choice
These verses make the choice that must be made abundantly clear. The righteous will be treated one way, and the wicked will be treated in another way.
On the one hand, we see deliverance from death (particularly the second death), clear direction, and deliverance from other kinds of things that may crop up. On the other hand, we have becoming a focus of the day of wrath, falling by wickedness, and being taken in naughtiness.
To bring this 2500 years or so up to date, you’re either protected by the blood of Jesus, or you’re not. We’ve either been forgiven of your sins by the time we go by the way of the grave, or we don’t.
The Bible defines righteousness clearly in the New Testament as being in right standing with the Father, only through Christ Jesus. There is no other way, no matter how many thousands of small “g” gods there are out there (demons in disguise), no matter how well behaved you might be, without Christ you’re going to be paying for your sins.
And without Christ, nobody escapes. For all have sinned and fallen short, nor is there any worthy to spend eternity where the Lord is, without Christ Jesus. So in the case of the verses above, on the righteous side of things, it is solely representing those who take hold of Christ’s righteousness with both hands. See The Breastplate of Righteousness for more about this.
Concerning the wicked, these are those who have rejected Christ, and choose to go the way of the world. You can’t buy your way into Heaven. It’s by their own wickedness that they’ll be judged. And that which transgressors decide to adhere to, will be the very thing that takes them down, in this life and also for eternity.
These are extreme rules we’re playing by, and the way to eternal life has been made as easy as pie for us. Jesus did all of the work, and suffered for all of the sin we’ve ever committed.
When the righteous stands before the Lord God, and we’re presented with all we’ve ever done throughout our lives, we have an advocate with the Father, in Christ Jesus. When sin is presented, Jesus will say,”It’s all covered, and all has been paid in full.” Then, on to reward time!
The unfortunate truth for the wicked who reject such an easy, simplified, and wonderful salvation, is that they themselves choose where they’re going to go by the choices they’ve made. God doesn’t send anyone to Hell. People send themselves.

Romans 3: King James Bible
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
We thank you for your love for us, that you’d be so gracious, to send your only begotten Son to die and suffer in our stead, in our place, so that we don’t have to. Such an enormous thing this is in our eyes Lord. Thank you for Christ’s righteousness, and if it isn’t, please make it so, that should you look upon us, that you see upon us, the righteousness of Christ Jesus himself. Cause for us to be more like him, as he is our perfect example. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
Did you know that your final destination will be decided by your choice you’ve made here on earth?
